Friday, August 19, 2022, Issue 261: Lazy summer days...Happy Friday!

Well it still too hot out sometimes and sometimes it isn't and already the nights have started cooling down! It is already getting dark earlier too and despite the heavy downpour yesterday evening, I had a big turnout for Knit Night!

I am ready to start my fall knitting...well as soon as I finish what is on my needles!

I love tones and lace and here’s Kuutar by Sari Nordlund!

I love yokes and lace and here’s Kuutar by Sari Nordlund! Kuutar is a Finnish word meaning “the lady of the moon” or “the goddess of moon”.

The Kuutar pullover is knitted seamlessly top-down starting at the neckband. The sleeves and body are separated at underarm and knitted separately. The back is shaped with short-rows to give it a bit more length and to improve the fit.

The lace pattern is modified from a lace chart found in the Japanese Knitting Stitch Bible by Hitomi Shida.

SIZES
1 (2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9)

YARN
Note: The pullover uses a strand of fingering weight yarn held together with a strand of lace weight yarn, but they can be substituted for a single strand of DK weight yarn. If you wish to work a DK weight version, omit all the instructions where it says “hold the yarns together” and follow only the yarn amount requirements for the fingering weight yarn.

My Rock It Tee, my third by Tanis Lavallee is now 10 inches from the underarms.

My Rock It Tee (my third) by Tanis Lavallee is now 10 inches from the underarms. It has tone on tone stripes by alternating between fingering and mohair yarn which while I also did on my first Rock It Tee. The first one was knit with 8 row stripes and for this one, I decided to knit narrow 4 row stripes. If I have enough yarn I am going to make the sleeves a little longer.

The ribbing is done on my Easy V by Caitlin Hunter! I am using my hand spun and here I was trying to decide on my CC2 which is what I need next to start the yoke chart.

The ribbing is done on my Easy V by Caitlin Hunter! I am using my hand spun and in this photo I was trying to decide on my CC2 which is what I need next to start the yoke chart.

The main colour was spun using Ashford Montage which is a blended unique fibre made up of Ashford mill ends of various amounts of Ashford Corriedale, Merino, Silk-Merino, and Alpaca-Merino. The natural hand spun is Ashford Corriedale Sliver in White while the other is SweetGeorgia Corriedale in Midnight Feast.

This is how far I got on the first ply. After I spin to fill my bobbin about halfway, I will need to spin one more half bobbin so that I can ply them together.

This is how far I got on the first ply of the fibre I decided on - SweetGeorgia Polwarth+Silk in Tofino Roadtrip. After I spin enough to fill my bobbin about halfway, I will need to spin one more half bobbin so that I can ply them together. I can't wait to see the barber pole effect I should get.
