There was winter storm advisory last night but today is bright but oh so cold! Always the perfect weather for whipping out that work in progress, settling back with some music on, your Netflix or favourite knitting podcast and knitting!

Brandelhow by Natasja Hornby a modern take on a fisherman’s sweater featuring panels of mock cables and a textural broken rib. Knitted top down in Lore, it uses short rows to cleverly shape the shoulders, neckline and sleeve caps to ensure great fit. Shown in Lore shade Caring – 4 [5: 5: 6: 6: 7: 8: 9: 10] hanks.

Rathbone by Holli Yeoh is a v-neck sweater with a flattering a-line shape, subtle texture on the sleeves and stockinette stitch on the main body. It is worked from the bottom up in pieces and seamed. Knit in Acadia, this sweater has a soft and luxurious feel that drapes well. Shown in shade Summersweet – 9 [9: 12: 12: 12: 14: 14: 16: 16] hanks.

Skiddaw by Kari-Helene Rane  is an oversized sweater featuring a striking cable design along the sleeves and neck. It is worked flat in one piece from cuff to cuff and seamed. Knit in Arranmore Light, the sweater is cosy and warm. Shown in shade Kinnego Bay – 4 [4: 4: 5: 5: 5: 6: 6: 7] hanks.

Newlands by Megan Nodecker is a cropped t-shirt with a pretty band of lace across the neck and shoulders. It is knitted seamlessly from the bottom-up with neat i-cord edgings at the hem, sleeves and neck. The pattern uses the luxurious Canopy Fingering yarn for drape and softness and feels light as a feather. Shown in shade River Dolphin – 4 [5: 5: 5: 6: 7: 7: 8: 9] hanks.

Irish Sea by Susanna Winter is a super-wearable triangle shawl with beautiful drape and fluidity. The crisp stitch definition from Meadow emphasises the rhythmic garter stitch and delicate lace as it travels down the edge of the shawl. The size can be adjusted, according to your taste, by knitting more or less repeats. Shown in shade Ladyslipper – 1 [2] hanks. I have most colours for this shawl in stock.

Glykos by Dawn Henderson is an easy to wear asymmetric triangle shawl designed in the lightweight yarn Luma. The shawl begins with a compact honeycomb cable that transitions into a larger, more expansive stitch that is a pleasure to knit. A crisp, ribbed border finishes it off neatly. Shown in shade Stonewash – 5 hanks.

Lingholm by Hiroko Payne is a cape-length oval shawl, knit from the back of the neck outwards. It is knit in the yarn Meadow, which is soft-as-a-feather and will keep you surprisingly warm. The shawl is knit in stocking stitch lace and its raglan shaping gives a beautiful fit on the shoulders. The delicate edging makes use of short rows to create a subtle hi-lo hemline.  Shown in Queen Annes Lace – 3 hanks.

NEW IN!

Cirro is a sport weight brushed yarn processed in a mill in southern Peru, home of the alpaca.  Cirro combines the long lustrous Suri alpaca fibre with Merino wool.  The brushed effect is created by wrapping this blend around an organic cotton binder thread to achieve a light and airy yarn perfectly balanced for body and drape. Cirro creates a delightfully soft haloed fabric that is light as a feather and easily worn next to the skin.

Cumbria Worsted is a classic worsted weight yarn in saturated colours inspired by the Lake District of the north west of England where Cumbria is located.  Combining the brown wool from English Masham with a fine mohair from Argentina produces a yarn of great strength, as well as beautiful lustre and cozy warmth. These two fibres are blended with a fine South American merino to give the final yarn the softness and beautiful hand that defines The Fibre Co. yarns.

WIPS

I cast on Feel the Bern by Caitlin Hunter on Tuesday! I am using Istex Einband held double and Lettlopi! I worked on it for a few hours Tuesday and then only an hour yesterday and this morning.

My Paloma by Espace Tricot WIP! It is 8 inches from the underarm which is where the pattern has you start the hem for a cropped length. I am, however, short so this will be where I start the hem ribbing.

It looks very different hanging from a hanger! I can't wait to be able wear this!

KNIT GROUP AND GALLERY

The current Knit-Alongs are the Any Sweater / Shawl KAL and the Knit Your Project: the everlasting knit-along to encourage and support you to knit is running from January 1 to April 30, 2021.

Remember to post photos to the finished object (FO) thread HERE when you finish a project during the Knit-Along so that you will be included in the next draw! We will also add the option of posting your finished project to Instagram using the #sue2knitskal so that I can find them!

NEW will a special Galentines Day Cast On! Diane (@boujeeknits) and Michelina (@roadtripknits) have come up with this great idea for us to cast on a new project using pink or red on Galentine's Day (February 13th)! Who is in to cast on? I know many of us have multiple projects on the go so we haven't set an end date just the cast on date.

Galentine's Day, you ask? It’s a day for celebrating the love you have for your lady friends, it’s a day dedicated to showering your closest friends with love and attention...more than you do every other day. I had never heard of it before but of course I am in!

Linda finished her Spark by Andrea Mowry! At last Thursday night’s zoom night, her husband held the camera so we could watch her cut the steek but unfortunately he didn’t make a video of it for us to share!

Linda also finished her Rock it Tee by Tanis Lavallee! Knit with Koigu KPPPM in Moors of Scotland and Rohrspatz & Wollmeise.

Diane’s newest woven scarf! This one has some textural patterning too.

Diane has also finished 3 Turtle Dove II by Espace Tricot pullovers! This one was for herself!

Diane’s other 2 finished Turtle Dove II’s and one that is still on her needles!

Angie (KnittinGrapeVines) has knit three Turtle Dove II sweaters! She had leftover Drops Air from two projects. All she needed for this one was one more white and more black and voila!
