My goodness but it has been hot out there! Great time to sit and knit in the coolness of home or as I did in the shade of our gazebo. I hope you all enjoyed a wonderful Canada Day!
Susurrus by Joji Locatelli is a dreamy sweater that is knit seamlessly from the top down with a circular yoke. I first saw this sweater while watching one of Joji's Journal podcast episodes when Joji's mother showed off hers! It can be found in PomPom Quarterly Issue 32 of which I only have one copy left. My distributor is also sold out so can be found HERE if my last copy is gone. I held on on posting on the pattern because the yarn had been backordered for so long and I personally love the yarn and colours!
Virginia - Joji Locatelli’s mother knit her size 4 Susurrus with the same yarn as Joji and the yarn from the pattern! It looks fabulous on her!
Manos Del Uruguay Fino in Rosewater and Havisham and Cabrito in Primrose are the yarns used for Joji's version shown on the model in size 3 and for Virginia's.
Another suggestion for your Susurrus - Manos Fino in Watered Silk and Storm Glass and Lichen and Lace Marsh Mohair in Beach Glass.
The suggested needles are 2.75 mm (US 2) for the ribbing and 3.25 mm (US 3) for the main body. Gauge is 23.5 sts & 36 rounds= 10cm / 4” over St st in the round on 3.25mm needles with yarn C (mohair) after blocking and 23.5 sts & 36 rounds= 10cm / 4” over Chart in the round on 3.25mm needles with yarn B after blocking.
Age of Gold is Joji's newest pattern, a shawl with an easy, plain garter stitch body for mindless knitting and an elaborate border in a contrasting colour! The shawl requires 600 yards of fingering weight yarn in the main colour and approximatelly 120 yards of the contrast colour. The gauge is 18.5 st and 38 rows to 4” (10cm) in garter stitch on US 6 (4 mm) needles after blocking (or as required to get gauge).
WIP's and FO's
I really wanted to finish some of my projects! Off my needles is my Breathe and Hope Shawl by Casapinka. Yarn is Madelinetosh Tosh Merino Light.
I wasn’t sure until I blocked it if the gauge differences of the slipped sections vs the other sections would even out. They did and because the edges were pretty straight and I didn’t need to stretch it at all, I didn’t need to use my blocking wires.
The finished size is very long but because of the long and narrow shape should style nicely. It is 104” long by 15.25” wide and the cast off edge is 41”.
I also finished my Fruit Stripe Gum Socks by Leah Oakley (@agileknitter1) using self striping Timber Yarns Twin Sock in The “A” Life! I knit the Medium but because I used a larger needle than I normally use when I knit socks, they are large. My normal gauge using 2 mm (US 0) needles is 8-9 stitches per inch. This time I used a 2.25 mm (US 1) needles so my gauge was 8 stitches per inch. I should have knit the 60 stitch sock instead of the 72 since I usually knit 64 stitch socks!
I usually knit socks that stretch to fit while with this pair, they fit without stretching!
Here is my current Rock It Tee by Tanis Lavallee wip! I still have quite a few inches to go on the body but I love it so far! I am using Berroco Ultra Alpaca Fine in Winter White and Garnstudio Drops Kid Silk in Off White. The pattern schematic measurements show that the sizes do not include ease so I am knitting the size 44 to get about 6 inches of ease.
The cast on day for the Soundtrack by Olive Knits 4 Day KAL was July 1 but I didn't cast on until July 2nd! I am using Stolen Stitches Nua Worsted. If you are worried, the 4 Day KAL runs July 1st until August 1st.
Nua Worsted (new to the shop) is a blend of merino, yak, and linen. Each of these fibres contributes something special to create an amazing yarn blend. Perfect for warmer garments and cosy accessories, the wonderful heathery colours combine well together. Merino provides a soft, squishy, and versatile base. Yak adds a unique silkiness to the yarn that your fingers will simply love. Finally, linen, adds strength and durability.
