Friday, June 17, 2022, Issue 252: Happy Friday

It is definitely feeling like summer outside. Some of us don't knit much in the summer but I can't say that I ever put my needles down...I knit and make year round and I hope you do too!

Last Saturday for Worldwide Knit in Public Day, the weather was perfectly dry if not a little too hot. We started out sitting out front but quickly moved out back to the deck and out gazebo. A great big thank you to everyone who came to enjoy the day.

Debbie took this photo showing from left to right, Liz, Darlene, Michelina Louise, Jeannine, a hidden Sandi, Connie, myself and Karen.

Photos were taken by Sue, Karen and Debbie...I tend to forget to take pictures! There were 2 videos as well but I can never remember how to put them into my newsletter! They are on the Sue2Knits and Yarn YouTube, Instagram and Facebook but I must say that I am at a loss on how to properly add music that doesn't stop or turn off our talking.

My Sailaway Cardigan is finished!

My Sailaway Cardigan by Marie Greene is off my needles! I had 4 skeins of the main colour set aside for mine but by the time I was almost finished my second sleeve, I decided to play yarn chicken with three! I worked 15 rounds of k2, p2 ribbing before binding off my first sleeve. I was on round 13 of the second sleeve when I ran out...Do I undo the bind off?

That is what I ended up deciding to do. I undid the bind off, frogged back to round 13 and bound off on round 14. I then bound off on round 14 on the second sleeve and promptly ran out and needed to spit splice all of my leftover ends to finish! Yes! I used every last scrap of three skeins of my main colour as well as my swatch!

I’m a little wind blown here but I’m wearing my finished and blocked Sailaway Cardigan, my sample for the Olive Knits Sailaway 4 Day KAL casting on July 1!

I’m a little wind blown here but I’m wearing my finished and blocked Sailaway Cardigan, my sample for the Olive Knits Sailaway 4 Day KAL casting on July 1! If you plan to join the knit-along, stash dive or pick up your yarn so you can knit your swatch.

I used Kelbourne Woolens Scout for my 3 colour version. I used Strawberry Heather, Oatmeal Heather and Mulberry Heather. There is one kit left with 4 skeins and 2 mini cakes HEREfor the 3 colour version. There are 2 colour kits available HERE using Kelbourne Woolens Scout and Schopppel Wolle Edition 3. Of course, you can choose yarns to create your own!

My Ranunculus is now on my 50” ChiaoGoo cables and 4” tips!

Did you cast on for our Ranunculus by Midori Hirose KAL? I cast on my Ranunculus (my third adult size) last Wednesday, June 8th using Schoppel Wolle El Linio. This is a beautiful 100% linen yarn with a chainette construction.

My Ranunculus is now on my 50” ChiaoGoo cables and 4” tips! I love all of my ChiaoGoo Interchangeable set of needles! All, you might ask? I have the small set with the 4" tips because I personally like to be able to 16" and up. I also have the Shorties Mini Set (red) and the Shorties Small Set (blue). I like that I can change the cables as I need as the circumference of my top down constructed in-the-round sweater progresses.

Post your finished projects on Instagram with the hashtag #sue2knitsranunculuskal and #sue2knitskal for a chance to win a prize! We will draw our winners on July 31st from the hashtags!

Join in any time but please follow @sue2knits so we can see your posts, use the hashtags above and follow those hashtags to see everyone's progress WIPs and FOs.

I am knitting the short rows and lace on the front section of my Pink is for Power by Melanie Berg! My plan is to make mine without sleeves for a summer tee version. I am using Ancient Arts Socknado held double with Malabrigo Silkpaca. I am only on row 4 of the lace pattern so it will be next week before you can see the gorgeous lace design.
