Friday, October 28, 2022, Issue 269: It's fall and it's sweater weather...Happy Friday!

It has cooled down considerably out there especially our mornings and evening, so brrrr...It is definitely sweater weather! Did you know that there are only 8 more weeks until Christmas?

Ribbed branches and clear meandering lines create a graphic interplay on this large and cosy shawl.

Lisa Hannes Coral Reef Wrap features a combination of ribbing and travelling lines that look wondering both sides.

Lisa Hannes Coral Reef Wrap features a combination of ribbing and travelling lines that look wonderful on both sides. So, there is no real “wrong side” and it can be worn with either side showing, which makes it really easy to wear!

And you’ll be surprised that there is not a single cable worked in this shawl. You’ll only ever work a maximum of 4 increases/decreases per row to create the effect of the mesmerizing branches! The rest is done in easy, relaxing ribbing.

It is worked sideways from tip to tip as an elongated ellipse-like shape and the pattern is adjustable to the yardage you have available or your desired size if you prefer to make a smaller/larger shawl.

Fully written row-by-row as well as charted instructions are provided so you can choose which you prefer to work from.

The contiguous construction method is used to create a set-in-sleeve-look seamlessly.

The length is easy to adapt, and the sweater features a high-low hem. That is, the body is longer at the back than at the front. This is something you can easily omit, should you wish to. Lastly, the sleeves are designed to be on the longer side.

I am using Koigu KPPPM colours from the Collector's Club - LYS Life in Speckles and Maie.

Hedgehog Fibres Tweedy

Tweed DK yarn and the coloured bits are our own hand-dyed waste - the ties that we take off the hand dyed skeins. We save them very diligently and it's a total labour of love!

We have been collecting the ties for a while and I finally found a mill that could process these, which means re-carding them, blending and spinning into yarn again. We have a batch of this lovely taupe, grey-ish tweed yarn with colourful speckles. I love how neutral it is with a colourful bit here and there. It comes in one colourway only and I think it's just calling for sweaters and cardigans.

We are always looking for ways to be more environmentally friendly and to minimise waste. On top of our thread waste we are using recycled wool, making 50% of the total content recycled. We love the result! It's soft, yet wooly. Not superwash and it blooms beautifully after washing.

  • DK weight
  • 50% Falkland Merino Wool, 37.5% Recycled wool, 12.5% our Thread waste
  • 252 yards (230 meters) per 100 grams (3.53 ounces)

  • Hand wash cold, Dry flat
