FAVOURITE PATTERNS
Golden Sand by Joji Locatelli was the first pattern from the Sight is Life e-book. It includes 7 patterns by different designers and a shawl designed by 7 designers together. By purchasing this pattern or Sight is Life e-book, you help blind people in Congo DR to see again. A doctor working there, in the poorest country in the world, restores sight for hundreds of people. Check this group to see how the donated income will be used: Sight is Life project.
The shawl is worked from the centre top down. Stitches are increased at each side on every other row to give it its characteristic crescent shape. The lace edge instructions are both written and charted. To make it, you need about 680 yards of fingering weight yarn. For a similar draped and beautiful result as Joji's sample choose a yarn with a high content of silk or other silky fibers. 4.0 mm (US 6) needles or the needle size to give you a gauge of 18 st and 40 rows to 4” (10cm) in garter st on US 6 (4 mm) needles after blocking.

Ranunculus by Midori Hirose is another round yoke sweater that I have had my eye on for quite some time! This beauty is tma’s Ranunculus by Midori Horse knit with Hikoo by Skacel Rylie and SweetGeorgia’s Silk Mist. I have two skeins of Rylie in the Sandbar colour that I originally cast on a shawl with but that I know I will not knit!! But this sweater! I love everything about it so I think one day soon...
Ranunculus is a round yoke pullover with lace and textured stitches where the designer has included the option of either a smaller boat neckline or a wider boat neckline and short sleeves, long puff sleeves with diagonal cuff line or long puff sleeves with normal cuff line. It can be knit up fairly quickly because of the combination of thin yarn and big needles. Knit it with lace, light fingering to worsted weight yarn using 5 mm (US 8) and 6 mm (US 10) circular needle as main needle for a gauge of 14 stitches and 20 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch after wet blocking.

WIP's and FO's
Last week I started prepping for the Yarn Crawl, deciding on patterns and yarn!
Winding all of the little mini skeins turned out to be a big job!
Next, I cast on a pair as a sample! One fingerless mitt is finished!! One more to go, although not for tomorrow!
The neutral with blues kit...
And fall themed kits! For those who want something a little simpler, there are two other kits including a crochet mitt pattern. I have also put together Knitted Knockers Kits for anyone interested in soft, comfortable, knit prosthetics for breast cancer survivors. Drop off finished knockers and I will ship them.
I started a Bedouin Bag by Nora J. Bellows a couple of weeks ago using Noro Kureyon Air and 7.5 mm needles. Look at how big my still to be felted bag is!! Knitting is finished so off to the next step! It now measures 28" tall, 45" around with a bottom that is 17" x 16.5".
