Wednesday, August 13, 2025, Issue 405: Happy Wednesday! What is on your needles?

I hope that you have been enjoying summer so far despite the humidity! Have you been staying indoors to knit like me? This year I have not gone outside to sit and knit much at all...it has been too hot!

The Soltid Tee by Elsebeth Judith is also a part of the pattern Soltid but this pattern has instructions added for her faded version as requested by knitters. If you have purchased the Soltid pattern, you will be offered this additional pattern for free.

The tee is worked top-down with a boatneck in rib, compound raglan shaping, and short sleeves in 4x4 rib.

Sizes XS (S, M, L) (XL, 2XL, 3XL)
The most important thing for working this pattern is to choose the right size (and yarn to fit the gauge) so the fitted neckline and increases at yoke sit as intended when worn. The tee is designed to be worn with no ease or up to a positive ease of 10cm/4” at circumference of full bust measurement.

Knot To Be Missed by Rachel Illsley

Knot To Be Missed by Rachel Illsley is the fifth design of the Macramé Collection, a series of designs inspired by the beautiful textures of macramé art. It can be knit as a summer tee or a long-sleeved top.

Construction
Stitches are cast on for the back and shoulders and worked flat with short row shaping to curve the back of the neck. The initial cast on and shoulder shaping is worked in a smaller needle size to increase stability in the garment. Once shoulder length is reached, stitches are picked up for each front piece, which are shaped with short row shaping. From here, the textured stitch pattern is introduced, combining knits, purls and yarnovers to produce a variety of contrasting elements. Increases are worked into the sleeves and V-neck front and later into the front and back to shape the armhole. Once V-neck depth is reached, the front is joined and worked in the round. Once armhole depth is reached, sleeves are separated from the body. The remainder of the body and sleeves are worked in the round, continuing the textured stitch pattern. Long or short sleeves can be worked to suit personal preference.

Sizing Guide
This garment is graded into sizes 1 (2, 3, 4, 5) (6, 7, 8, 9). Recommended positive ease is 4+” / 10+ cm at the chest circumference.

Finished Garment Chest Circumference:
35 (38, 42.75, 45.75, 50.25) (53.25, 58, 62.5, 65.5)“
87.5 (95, 106.5, 114.5, 125.5) (133.5, 145, 156, 164) cm

Gauge
Using 4 mm (US 6) needles, or needle size required to meet gauge, 21 stitches over 27 rows / rounds in the textured stitch pattern (see Body, p.13), wet blocked, creates a 4x4” / 10x10 cm square.

My Double Time Cardigan by Libby Jonson (Truly Myrtle)

On Saturday, I had part of my second sleeve finished on my Double Time Cardigan by Libby Jonson (Truly Myrtle).

I finished it, wove in all f the ends, sewed on the buttons and blocked it on Monday. I am going to have to frog back part of my second sleeve though. It is about an inch longer than the first sleeve because my gauge was quite a bit looser. On the second sleeve I continued using a 16 inch for much of the sleeve while I changed to a 12 inch needle after the first decrease on the first sleeve which meant that I had the stitched squished together instead of stretched out.

Other than that, my gauge did not change much before and after blocking. I knit the 44.75 size and finished with a 42.5. I found the buttons at Fabricland after looking at each rack. These were the only ones that worked with my Yarn colours.
