Saturday is our annual Sue2Knits Knit in Public Day! Go Public, Go Social...Go Knitting in Public Yeah!
From 10 until 5 pm. So far it looks like we will have a great day so I look forward to seeing you! Bring yourself (carpool if possible), your knitting, crochet or yarnie project and join in for some socializing and fibre fun with us!
This Saturday, we will be hosting our annual World Wide Knit in Public Day from 10am until 5pm. World Wide Knit in Public Day was started in 2005 by Danielle Landes. It began as a way for knitters to come together and enjoy each other’s company. Knitting is such a solitary act that it’s easy to knit alone somewhere and sink into your work without thinking about all the other knitters out there. Neighbors could spend all their lives never knowing that the other knits. This a specific day to get out of your house and go to a local event (with your knitting in tow) just for you and people like you. Who knows you might even bump into your neighbor! Consider this a spark, to ignite a fire; getting all of the closeted knitters out into fresh air.
WHAT TO BRING:
Any project to work on. I will have coffee, tea, water and some goodies. Bring a chair, sunglasses and something in case it gets breezy! If it rains, we will move inside the shop or in the garage which we have used in the past and is much cooler than in the sun or we can sit out in the gazebo if it gets too hot as well!
We will be offering 10% off your purchases in-store and online (no code needed) as well as a draw for a door prize and more!
There are always new patterns...there are so many, many talented designers! For the summer, I like knitting summer tops at least until mid-July when I want to start my fall projects! Have you started your summer knit top yet?
Anker’s Summer Shirt by PetiteKnit is a simple summer tee that you can knit without too much thought. It isn't a new pattern but it is a great one if you want simple and fairly mindless. The yoke is worked in sections of rib with increases in the round, followed by classic raglan increases when the stockinette stitch section begins. The sleeves are worked at the end, either on double-pointed needles or on circular needles using the Magic Loop technique. Anker’s Summer Shirt has no finishing other than weaving in ends. Begin by working a swatch to determine which needle size you need to achieve the correct gauge. Note that the swatch needs to be washed and blocked before measuring the gauge.
Anker’s Summer Shirt is designed to have approx. 0-5 cm [0-2 inches] of positive ease, meaning it is designed to be 0-5 cm [0-2 inches] larger in circumference than your widest upper body measurement.
The sizes XS (S) M (L) XL (2XL) 3XL (4XL) 5XL are designed to fit a bust circumference of 80-85 (85-90) 90-95 (95-100) 100-110 (110-120) 120-130 (130-140) 140-150 cm \31½-33½ (33½-35½) 35½-37½ (37½-39¼) 39¼-43¼ (43¼-47¼) 47¼-51¼ (51¼-55) 55-59 inches].

Pierre Top by Johanna Gehrisch is an elegant, fitted summer top with an eye-catching lace pattern and a classic shape that is definitely not simple!
The top is worked in lace pattern top down in one piece. First, the back panel is worked with increases to shape the armholes. Then, the front panels are worked separately and the round neck is shaped with increases. When both front parts are joined along the round neck, the front part is finished like the back part with increases to shape the armholes. Finally, both parts are joined to the round under the armpits and the summer top is worked in lace pattern in the round. The stitches are then bound off with an i- Cord-Edging. Afterwards, the round neck and the armholes are finished off with an applied i- Cord-Edging as well. The fit of the summer top is close to the body with a neutral to negative ease of up to 7 cm. The fitted shape of the top emphasizes the elegant lace pattern all over the top. Because of the airy texture and the yarn choice, the top is the perfect companion during hot summer days!
