Are you ready to welcome the promise of summer days? It looks like we might be in for a great long weekend to spend outside! Lise is ready with her newly finished I See Spring sweater by Joji.
I See Spring by Joji Locatelli is a top-down, seamless knit with just a bit of eyelet detail for interest. It is a great mindless knitting project especially after you are finished with the short rows with lots of stocking stitch. Lise knit a less oversized sweater and modified hers to make shorter and narrower sleeves.
Joji knit her sample of I See Spring in this beautiful shade of pink. The pattern came to be when she was asked to design something for the attendees of the first Laine Retreat. She decided to design something that would remind her of the good weather and the blooming flowers of the Portuguese coast where the retreat was to be held. The sweater is knit using a sport weight yarn and 3.0 mm (US 2.5) and 3.5 mm (US 4) needles or the needles to get a gauge of 21.5 stitches and 30 rows to 4” (10cm) in Stockinette Stitch on US 4 (3.5 mm) needles.
Sachiko Burgin's Juniper Top is a lovely summer pullover designed for Berroco to be knit with their Remix Light, a yarn that has quickly become a favourite. This basic raglan pullover knitting pattern is elevated with a simple lace panel added at the top of the sleeves. Knit in the round from the bottom up, this tee features minimal seaming and only requires a few balls of Berroco Remix Light. Knit it using 4.0 mm (US 6) and 4.5 mm (US 7) needles or the needles required to get a gauge of 17 stitches and 27 rows = 2¾“ in Lace Pattern with larger needle and 20 stitches and 27 rows = 4” in Stockinette stitch with the larger needles.
The pattern can be purchased from Berroco on Ravelry or in
Berroco’s Fragaria Tee by Amy Palmer is another light summer top that can be found in this collection.
WIP's and FO's
Here is a progress shot of my Odyssey Shawl by Joji.
I finished the shawl but I still need to block it and weave in the ends! I'm thrilled with how it looks and feels so I am hoping it blocks out the way I want it too! The pre-blocked size is very large - 90 across the top by 23" deep.
Yesterday morning, I cast on Tulip by Ririko using Shibui Reed. It was hard to decide on which colour to use but I finally decided on Brick. There hasn't been too much progress and when I looked at it again last night, I can see a mistake in my knitting within the mock cable pattern! Ed and I have been busy putting up the sun shelter / gazebo that we bought at Costco last week.
