Well we have been having some unseasonably warm weather, but we know sweater weather with hats and mitts will be here soon enough! Holidays too are coming up fast too!
Elvebakken by Inga Semmingsen is a beanie that is the perfect project for your leftover silk mohair. It has a simple slip-stitch-pattern that adds texture and the lovely triangle pattern. You only knit with one color at the time. The beanie comes in two versions: One with a folded rib and one with a shorter, simple rib.
You start with knitting your desired rib, then you knit the slip-stitch and finish off by alternating between decrease rounds and slip-stitch pattern.
Here’s the Elvebakken by Inga Semmingsen that Victoria (mamavictoria) knit her son!

Cave of Wonders Hat by Ellie Mack (@banditknits) is a fun fair isle beanie which is knit using circular needles.
Whether you choose bright, bold and contrasting colours for your beanie, or colours more understated, you can be sure to knit a beanie you will love!
This pattern is ideally suited for Malabrigo Mecha yarn, but it can be knit with other bulky/chunky/12 ply yarns, using between 120 - 170 yards of yarn.
This pattern creates a small, regular or large adult sized beanie, in a slouchy fit. Perfect with a large soft pom pom to top it off!
Veronica (@xov.knits) knit several but for these two Cave of Wonders Beanies by Ellie Mack, she used Malabrigo Mecha and reversing the colours!
The Tris Bonnet by CraftsEverywhere (Erin Oetker) is a cute giftable bonnet sized from newborn to an adult with a textured brim with optional colourwork and a stockinette body. It is an intermediate pattern which requires knowledge of knit and purl techniques, pattern reading and colourwork for the dual color version. It contains some specialized stitches, colourwork and both knitting flat and in the round. It does not teach you any knitting basics and assumes the purchaser already has basic knitting skills.
Materials
9.00 mm (US 13) 16” circular needles
Optional DPNs or magic loop for all needle sizes for decreases and baby sizes if desired
Stitch marker
Tapestry needle
Super bulky yarn, suggested Malabrigo Rasta or Wool Ease Thick and Quick
Optional: Pom pom and Tag
Karen (kmae64) finished her Tris Bonnet by CraftsEverywhere (Erin Oetker) for her granddaughter knit using Malabrigo Rasta held single with Bergere de France Merinos Alpaga held double.
For something fun and a little different, Flat Rat by Susan Glinert Stevens is a bookmark where the rat with a pointier nose, fatter body and beadier eyeballs than what she had seen before so she spent some time with needles and crochet hook developing a pattern so all of you can make your very own Flat Rat.
A Flat Rat being used...
Or a bunch being used! Make yours with stash fingering weight yarn and 2.0 - 2.5 mm (US 0 - 1.5) needles.
WIPs and FOs
This week I don't have a finished object...No that isn't true! I knit myself a poppy using the free Michael Park's Remembrance Day Poppy pattern for a ribbed poppy.
I used leftover variegated red yarn that I originally thought too dark but everyone I asked thought my best choice of leftover red yarn.
I am still working on my Stria by Andrea Mowry which is growing! I am still on my third skein of Tukuwool Fingering...Will I need to use the 7 skeins the pattern estimated I would need?
My grandson wants a dinosaur balaclava in yellow with black spikes…I started it! The pattern is Wee Balaclava by mama cerise with the dinosaur modifications by pfong001. The yarn I am using is Berroco Vintage.
