It has cooled down considerably out there so brrrr...It is definitely sweater weather! Did you know that there are only 8 more weeks until Christmas?
Have you started your gift knitting yet? Something small like a hat or large like an afghan?
Espace Tricot’s Twistmas is a fun and easy hat pattern featuring twisted rib! The simple stitch pattern creates interesting texture while allowing your beautiful hand-dyed yarns to take center stage. It’s knit with two strands of fingering weight yarn and one strand of a laceweight mohair blend - all held together.
Instructions for two versions of the hat are provided - the first one uses one colour for the whole hat while the second one invites you to use your scraps and mini-skeins to create your own “faded” version! The gauge is 21 stitches and 24 rows = 4 inches in K1tbl, P3 repeat using 5.0 mm (US 8) needles or as required to get gauge. 4.5 mm (US 7) needles are used for the brim ribbing. Knit it using a worsted weight yarn held singly such as Malabrigo Rios, SweetGeorgia Superwash Worsted or ZenYarnGarden Serenity Worsted or using Malabrigo Sock held double with Garnstudio Drops Kid Silk or Lichen and Lace 80/20 Sock and Lichen and Lace Marsh Mohair.
Sloane Rosenthal’s October Hat is another quick knit hat that is worked in the round from the bottom up. The hat begins with a provisional cast on, and then a deep knit 2, purl 2 ribbing is worked. An intricate, modern cable panel pattern is worked for the body of the hat and integrated decreases shape the crown.
Gauge for 1 Cable Repeat (40 sts) = 5.5” (14 cm), after blocking and 28 rounds = 4” (10 cm) in the cable pattern after blocking on on 4.5 mm (US 7) needles or as required to get gauge. 3.75 mm (US 5) needles are suggested for the ribbing. I would suggest the same yarns as for the hat above.

My Koivua by Caitlin Hunter is on sleeve island! I am on the textured section of the first sleeve! My row gauge is way off so I worked three repeats of the textured section to make the body longer.
I had a big oops happen to my Ashes by Joji Locatelli! that I am knitting for the #jojifallkal2020! I knocked over my coffee on it, tried soaking it in a Eucalan bath while keeping my needles out of it but I can still see the coffee stain and my cakes aren’t dry! Next I will need to carefully unwind my yarn into skeins and put it all into an OxiClean bath!
