It seems like summer just flew by and now it is already mid-September! Time to start our fall projects and Christmas gift making! Pictured here is Mirna in he Celestial by Martin Storey from Rowan Magazine 61 knit using Rowan Summerlite DK.
CLASSES UPDATE
There have been a couple of classes that have been re-scheduled! I totally forgot to look at the calendar for holidays and so forgot about Thanksgiving weekend.
The Ninilchik Swoncho by Caitlin Hunter Class (Colourwork / Fairisle / Stranded Knitting) has been re-scheduled to Sundays, September 23, 30, October 21 & November 4 – 10 am to 12 pm.
The Rigid Heddle Weaving Workshop has been re-scheduled to Sunday, October 28 – 10 am to 4 pm.
If you are planning to register for any of the classes, please do so soon. If you know anyone who would be interested, please forward them this email. The minimum registration for our classes is four students and maximum is 6 people for most workshops.
KNIT GROUP AND GALLERY
The current Knit-Alongs are the Knit Your Any Project KAL: An everlasting knit-along to encourage and support you to knit your own project (any project, and join in anytime!) from July 1 to September 15, 2018; and the Swirl Skirt, Any Skirt and Any Project KAL running at the same time. Don't forget to post a pic to the finished object (FO) thread before tomorrow night! The next draw will be on Sunday.
The new KAL will then start September 15 to December 31, 2018!
Nicole (mamaboj)'s Swirl Skirt in gorgeous fall colours!
Nik already has plans for knitting a second one!
Natalie is almost finished her Swirl Skirt - just kitchener stitching it together!
Here is mine! I can already tell it is going to be my go-to skirt!
Connie successfully knit a brioche star (bottom pics) and I unsuccessfully knit one (top pics)! Connie has done more brioche than I have...Stephen West's Building Blocks Shawl was the only other time that I have done brioche! Thank you Sandi for your help!

Lise’s Reflections - pattern is Willem’s Blanket
Debbie (debsnub)’s crocheted afghan WIP from early in August might very well be finished! I rarely get to see her finished projects and she rarely takes a photo of them!
Paulette’s (most likely) colour choice for her Ninilchik Swoncho.
My choice 1 for my Ninilchik with the pale grey as my main colour or...
Choice 2 for my Ninilchik with the teal as my main colour. Decisions, decisions...

The pattern (Painted Stones Cowl) that I designed for the Knit 1 - Beginner Class has been written and is now available from Ravelry for Free. This will make a great gift!
A matching hat is on my needles with a pattern soon to come.
Lots of stockinette in the body of my Zweig since I omitted the textured pattern but I now only have about 2 more inches to go before the sleeves!

The Criss Cross Top by Purl Soho is a great design little top with a great fit that can be worn under a cardigan or jacket for fall. "Reverse stockinette serves as a beautiful all-over ground, while 1 x 1 ribbing gives structure and definition to edges. One simple cable at the front neckline provides all the drama." It is knit from the bottom up, first the font, then the back, joined to knit in the round and then separated again to knit the front top and back top. Knit it using 656 - 1148 yards (600 - 1050 m) of aran weight yarn and 4.0 mm (US 6) to get a gauge of 20 stitches and 31 rows = 4 inches in reverse stockinette stitch.
Are you planning to knit or crochet up some pumpkins for your Thanksgiving table decor? I have had Pumpkin knitting at our Knit Afternoons and we will again! I will come up with kits so that can be purchased but you can come join us with worsted to chunky weight yarn and 5.5 mm or 6.0 mm double pointed needles. Autumn Pumpkins by Jan Lewis, Pumpkin - Jack Be Little - this is the one I've always used and Amigurumi Pumpkins - this one is crocheted.
