Wednesday, August 20, 2025, Issue 406: Happy Wednesday! What is on your needles?

It is still too hot out while sometimes it isn't, like today. Already the nights have started cooling down! It has also started getting dark earlier too, perfect for starting a cool weather project or finishing one that was put away for the summer.

Have you started your fall knitting? The GLENIFF sweater by Tania Barley is a round yoke sweater with a top-down construction, relaxed boxy fit and colourwork on the yoke and body. This pattern was inspired by the beautiful Gleniff Horseshoe where she spent countless hours walking her dog and talking to the sheep, and its changes through the seasons. The pattern offers 2 colourwork options: using either 2 or 4 colours.

Starting with the yoke cast on, and neckline shaping with short rows, the sweater is worked seamlessly top down. Then the body and sleeves are separated while casting on stitches for the underarms.

The pattern and the yardage have been given for an average height of 165 cm / 5‘5’’ and a slightly cropped length. Please adjust the lengths according to your individual body measurements.

SIZING:
The measurements listed below are for the final sweater after washing and blocking. The pattern comes in 8 sizes 1, 2 (3, 4, 5, 6) 7, 8 with finished sweater bust circumference measuring 90, 103 (115.5, 128.5, 137, 145.5) 158.5, 168 cm / 36, 41.25 (46.25, 51.5, 54.75, 58.25) 63.5, 66.75 inches and is designed to be worn with a positive ease of 15-30 cm / 6-12 inches at the bust.

 Joji Fall KAL 2025

Fall is here, and that means it’s time for one of Joji's favorite traditions: the Joji Fall Knit-Along!

Every year, knitters from all around the world join in to celebrate the season by casting on projects from her patterns and sharing the joy of making together. Whether you’ve had a sweater waiting in your queue, or you want to cast on something small and cozy, this is the perfect excuse to dive in.

The Basics:
When: Sign-ups are open from August 15-30. The KAL runs from September 1 to November 30.
What to knit: Any of her patterns—new or old, big or small.
Where we gather: Joji's Ravelry group: Designs by Joji (https://www.ravelry.com/groups/designs-by-joji)
Prizes: Absolutely! More info soon.

Sign-ups are open now!:
Every single project you want to enter for the KAL must be registered through the Sign-Up Form. You must fill one Google form for every project you want to include in the KAL.

Sign-up Form

Please remember: Sign-ups will close on August 30.

Each project will be assigned a number, which we’ll use for tracking progress and awarding prizes.

And because casting on something new is always tempting, Joji is offering 25% off all my patterns with the code jojifallkal2025, valid on both Ravelry and jojiknits.com. The offer runs from August 15–31, so it’s the perfect time to pick your projects!

Before my sister Mary left to go back home, we both put on our Susurrus by Joji Locatelli sweaters!

I knit Susurrus by Joji for the Joji Fall KAL 2020. Here I am with my sister, Mary wearing ours. I do not have any kits left in the pinks but I do have kits in aqua/teal.

Progress on my Step by Step Cardigan 2

Last week, I cast on and started my second Step by Step Cardigan by Florence Miller but I ended up starting over again using 4.5 mm interchangeable tips for the knit row and 5.0 mm for the purl row. My gauge using the 4.0 mm and 4.5 mm turned out to have a gauge that was too small.

Progress on my Step by Step Cardigan 2

I am almost finished the first ball of Noro Kompeito in 03 Ichinoseki and the second ball of Garnstudio Drops Kid Silk in 01 Off White.

I will need to start knitting while frogging my first attempt from last week!
