Are you enjoying your summer so far? I am even though it has been hot, humid and just bit more wet than I like! It definitely makes it easy to sit back, relax and knit, knit, knit or make, make, make!
It's time! Andrea Mowry is thrilled to bring you her newest pattern for her annual Rhinebeck KAL - Framed!
Framed by a bold hem, neckline and cuffs, this year’s Rhinebeck sweater celebrates traditional handcrafts in a modern pullover. Knit from the bottom up and adorned with puff sleeves, this sweater will be a truly special addition to your handmade wardrobe! The body is worked in the round until the divide for the yoke. The remainder is worked flat, shaping the shoulders with German Short Rows and then finishing using the 3 needle bind off. The sleeves are then picked up from the body and knit in the round down to the cuff. Please note that the colorwork in this sweater is charted only.

SUGGESTED NEEDLES
Main Fabric: US 7/4.5 mm - 32-40”/80-100 cm circular (2 sets for 3 Needle BO) and preferred needles for small circumference knitting for the sleeves.
Ribbing: US 5/3.75 mm - 32-40”/80-100 cm circular and preferred needles for small circumference knitting for cuffs and collar.
(Use the needle size you need to achieve gauge, going down two US sizes for the ribbing.)
GAUGE
21 sts & 24 rnds = 4”/10 cm
Measured over stitch pattern knit in the round using the Main Fabric needle, after blocking.
Note: I am personally a loose knitter especially with colorwork! I would never be able to get a blocked gauge of 21 stitches = 4 inches using a worsted weight yarn and not with a superwash which blooms and grows. I would recommend a sport / DK instead for a knitter like me.
YARN SUGGESTION: The Fibre Co. Arranmore Light, Tukuwool DK or Rowan Felted Tweed
I have knit two sweaters by this designer recently but here is Art Nouveau Sweater by Elenor Mortensen. It is a top-down knitted sweater with a large Art Nouveau motif on the yoke.
The sweater is knitted in the round from the neck down and can be worked with either long or short sleeves.
FINISHED CHEST CIRCUMFERENCE
93, 100, 105 (112, 119, 125) 133, 140, 148 cm /
36.6, 39.3, 41.3 (44, 46.8, 49.2) 52.3, 55.1, 58.2’’
GAUGE
26 sts x 34 rnd = 10 x 10 cm stockinette stitch in colorwork pattern and single color, after washing and stretching
If the stitch sample is larger in the colorwork pattern, the needle size must be adjusted.
YARN
MC - approx. 1000, 1100, 1200 (1300, 1400, 1500) 1600, 1650, 1700 m / 1090, 1200, 1310 (1420, 1530, 1640) 1750, 1860, 1970 yards (for the model with long sleeves).
CC1and CC2 approx. 180, 190, 200 (210, 220, 230) 240, 250, 260 m 7 197, 208, 220 (230, 240, 251) 262, 273, 284 yards (approx. half of each color, or the total amount in one color)
SUGGESTED NEEDLES
3.0 mm (US 2.5)
3.5 mm (US 4)
YARN SUGGESTIONS: Sandnes Garn Tynn Line, Madelinetosh Tosh Merino Light
If you are looking for a new summer top or tee, Cilla Sun by Anne Ventzel is a simple and feminine top with an elegant lace pattern. The top is worked seamlessly from the top down.
First, the front yoke is worked. Then, stitches are picked up and knit along the slanted lines of the right and left shoulder, where the increases are worked on the front yoke. Each shoulder is worked separately and then joined to form the back of the neck and the back yoke. The front and back yoke are joined at the bottom of the armholes, and the body is worked in the round.
SIZES
Sizes: (1) 2 (3) 4 (5) 6 (7)
Top, chest circumference: (96) 104 (112) 120 (128) 136 (144) cm
Length: (45) 46 (47) 49 (51) 53 (55) cm
The simple construction of CILLA SUN means that the shoulder width of the top corresponds to the chest circumference of the top. The wider the bust circumference, the wider the shoulders. This means that if you choose a size with a larger chest circumference, the shoulders of the top will extend further out than your shoulders, tipping over the shoulder curve and creating a sense that the top has a little sleeve.
How much positive ease you like in your clothes varies from person to person. It can be a good idea to measure some of your favorite tops to help you choose the perfect size. I recommend choosing a size with 15 - 35 cm of positive ease, depending on which look you prefer.
NEEDLES
3.5 mm (US 4) circular needles, 40, 80/100 cm
4.0 mm (US 6) circular needle, 80/100 cm
GAUGE
20 sts x 30 rows in PATTERN on a 4 mm needle = 10 x 10 cm

Here’s my This or That Wrap by Ambah last Friday finished.
It is blocking!
I love how it turned out and the order in which I used my colours.
I like that the parallelogram wrap shape is wearable and easy to style.
My Ambah’s This or That Wrap MKAL was knit using a Koigu This or that MKAL Kit for mine where I used the lighter colour for C1, the darker colour for C2 and the mini skeins as C3 starting with the lightest colour to the darkest.
I’m getting close to the ribbing on the body of my Seaside Tee by Cheryl Mokhtari!! I hoope to be able to finish before the weekend.
