May has arrived, and while spring has been fluctuating between very warm or cold along with of rain and wind, we can still see the flowers starting to bloom and the trees that are budding and flowering!
A great big THANK YOU to everyone who came out to help celebrate Local Yarn Store Day and making it such a huge success!!!
LYS Day was crazy busy but I managed to get a few photos!
Marilyn (@mariwana64) came wearing her Sunshine Coast that she knit for our Top Down Pullover Class. She used Berroco Remix Light.
Arlette (@arlumizu) and her friend enjoying the fun and checking out the goodies!
Karen (@kmae64), Kathy (@chantrykathy) and Jocelyne (@justjoc2) came wearing their Ranunculus by Midori Hirose sweaters, so I put one of mine on too!
Congratulations to the Draw Giveaway Winners:

The Islet Raglan by Leila Raven is an easy, weightless top down raglan with striped mesh created by alternating rows of eyelets and thin, fuzzy stripes. Using mohair-silk gives a subtle contrast, against a yarn with smooth, matte, crisp stitches.
Leila couldn’t resist working up an additional version in her favorite summer yarn -- black linen. Paired with soft hand-dyed black mohair-silk, the linen version has an altogether different personality in the resulting fabric. Experiment with your favorite light fingering weight yarns and different fiber types for both the main color and fuzzy contrast stripes -- the possibilities are infinite with the abundance of yarn choices available in this weight.

Chèche en Bois by Noemie Jelly is the ideal pattern for that magnificent but lonely skeins, which you dream of knitting without really knowing which pattern to choose? The Wooden Chèche is the ideal pattern for these beautiful solitary skeins because it is an “infinite” shawl. In fact, you just have to repeat the rows until the end of your skein, without asking any questions! In addition, the lace and the large part in stockinette stitch will reveal all the beauty of your yarn. From a scarf with a single skein, it can become a large shawl with even more wool.
SIZES
This scarf can be knitted with just one skein. But you are free to make it bigger, in order to obtain a more covering shawl! By repeating the rows indicated endlessly, you will knit to the desired height or simply to the end of your skein!
YARN
Heavy fingering yarn (360-400 meters per 100 grams), but you can use heavy lace, light fingering, sport, DK, etc.
NEEDLES
Circular needles on a cable of 80 to 100 cm. For the choice of needle size, here are some suggestions, but you are free to choose according to your tension, your gauge and your yarn!
Light fingering: around 3 mm
Fingering: around 3.5 mm
Sport: around 4 mm
DK: around 4.5 mm
Here is Noème en Bois knit using Malabrigo Sock.
Baldric by Isabell Kraemer is worked seamlessly in rounds from the top down. First some short-rows are worked back and forth to shape the neck. Raglan increases are then worked to final yoke length, where sleeve stitches are placed on hold. From this point the body is worked in rounds with garter details at both sides to final length. Sleeve stitches are picked up again to work the sleeves in rounds top down with garter details. No finishing required.

FOs and WIPs
This week I worked mainly on my Renaissance Sweater by Elenor Mortensen. I am in love with this wonderful, intricate pattern! One sleeve is finished and the second is started. I will finish the body after the sleeves are finished. The only modification that I made was to eliminate the fake seam purl stitch on the sleeves and to cast the number of stitches to complete the chart repeats under the arms. In my case, I needed 7 stitches and 8 stitches for the one sleeve and 8 and 7 for the other.
i knit my Renaissance Sweater using Navia Silkiull which is 75% Wool, 25% Silk. Mirna boought the rest of the black for her Renaissance Sweater.
I worked only briefly on my Ariana by Amy Christoffers. I have lots of ends to weave in but all 46 granny squares are ready for the final round and assembly once I complete the rest of the half squares and the 2 quarter squares.
The yarn that I chose to use is the beautiful Nua Worsted by Stolen Stitches, a non superwash blend of 60% Merino Wool, 20% Yak, and 20% Linen.
