Holly & Jolly Socks by This Handmade Life is another merry christmasy pair of colorwork socks knit from the cuff down. A pair of socks that looked like they could almost be stockings hanging on the mantle but they are cozy too. The colorwork adds that extra warmth. its a fun pattern to work, the most complicated part is the garland section because your are working with 3 colors but the rest of the sock is easy, you won’t even have to look at the chart. I love that it looks like a candy cane!
For all of the above socks, you can use Lang Yarns Jawoll Superwash 75/25.
Noëlle Knitted Socks by Winwick Mum is one of the free Ravelry download sock patterns designed for the West Yorkshire Spinners Signature 4 Ply Self Striping or Patterning OR Solids sock yarns. There are eight Christmas colours. The West Yorkkshire Spinners Ravelry Store can be found HERE.
FOs and WIPs
On Monday, I had picked up every row on my Step by Step Cardigan by Florence Miller as instructed in the pattern and started the double knit button band.
After two false starts where I ended up frogging back what I had knit, I finally have the gauge for the perfect front band. I am such a loose knitter that in order to get gauge, I used 4.0 mm needles for the main body and 3.5 mm needles for the cuff and hem ribbing. I started out using 2.75 mm needles for the double rib and a 1 to 1 ratio for picking up stitches and then 2.75 mm needles and a 4 to 1 ratio. My final needle size for the double knit front bands based on how I knit is 3.0 mm needles and a 4 to 1 ratio.
