It is Good Friday and a holiday...I am not going out of town until Sunday so I am open this weekend! I am really hoping for some spring weather to enjoy and not rain but today looks like a mostly overcast day!
Linda M spent the morning with me at the shop...She swatched last night for Caitlin Hunter's Zweig but needed shorter circulars to cast on with. Sorry but no sneak peek photo because I forgot to take one!
As we were talking, she got on the topic of yarn that she has in her stash that she had originally planned to knit a sweater with a complicated lace raglan but had frogged. I had a lightbulb moment!
I suggested Papillon by Marin Melchior because Heather came in last night to buy yarn to knit one with. The shawl is a fun short row pattern needing about 400 yards of a colour-changing fingering weight yarn and 400 yards of a solid contrasting colour.
Heather will be knitting hers with Malabrigo Mechita in Whales Road while I am leaning more to Lang Yarns Mille Colori Baby!
Linda is planning to use this for her Papillon.
This Papillon knit by Deborah caught my eye as all of them have! I have to add it to my always growing list of favourites!
Lace Dress Body by Pernille Larson (Knittingforolive) would make a wonderful gift! The Lace dress body is a one-piece worked from the bottom up. The body and the lace skirt are knitted separately and are then joined together before the top is knitted. It comes in sizes 3, 6, 9, 12 and 24 months. If you like this dress for a bigger girl, see “Lace Dress” which is available in sizes from 2 - 6 years.
idreaminknitting’s Lace Dress Body was knit using Manos Alegria. Other yarns that I think would work are SweetGeorgia Tough Love Sock, Drops Flora or Rowan Summerlite 4Ply. The baby size needs 547 - 1094 yards (500 - 1000 m) of fingering weight yarn and 2.5 mm (US 1.5) and 3.0 mm (US 2.5) needles or as needed to get a gauge of 28 stitches = 4 inches in stocking stitch.

Here are the gigantic clogs that I started last week before I felted them - they are for Ed! This should give you a good idea of how big they were.
Here are the Felted Clogs by Bev Galeskas after felting!
They fit Ed just as they should! Now should I sew slipper soles on the bottoms?
I blocked my Barnstable by Lisa Hannes and wove in the ends last weekend!
I love my new Barnstable shawl by @malihadesigns and I love the yarn! I used both the yarn and the colours from the pattern - Malabrigo Dos Tierras in Archangel and Pearl.
I am so disappointed that my gauge which although normally loose doesn’t give me any problems but DID on this one!
I had 22" completed when I put another needle in so that I could check the length...Ugggh! My gauge which started out at 23 stitches to 4" had grown to 20 stitches - what??? My gauge is usually very good and so I have been knitting merrily on! OK, so it fits Ed and 22" is even good to his underarms but unfortunately he doesn't know that he would wear it. Sigh! After talking it over with a few people, I have frogged back so it will be a boxy sweater since a boxy sweater is a style I wear a lot of. A gigantic dress, however, is not a flattering look!
I made a video of the frogging process and another of how I put the needles back on. I don't know (yet) how to edit it to fast forward parts of it!
Just a wee bit started on my Odyssey by Joji Locatelli (@jojilocat). I caked Rowan Creative Linen to knit a summer shawl instead of a wool shawl!
