It is only July but this heat wave has me staying inside where it is cool knitting especially since I have a new grandson to knit for! I adore the sweet onesie that is on my needles!
WIP's and FO's
I don't knit often for my grandsons - I have four now! But they each have a Little Cotton Rabbit that I knit for them and at least one sweater! You can find details in my Ravelry Sue2Knits Projects.
I cast on Tiriltunge Newborn Onesie by Siv Jane Aksdal last Friday morning...thinking I need to knit something fast as a gift for Caleb who was born on June 25th!
During Thursday's Knit Night, I was contemplating the Bergere de France Newborn Kit in Straw but instead decided to use the same Bergere de France Goomy 50 yarn but using the onesie pattern instead. This is how much I had knit by Sunday night even though I am using a 2.5 mmj (US 1.5) needle!
By Monday night, I had this much finished!
I am very close to being finished now! I still have the short sleeves, sewing in the ends and buttons to go! Such a sweet knit! I am trying to finish this by tonight so that I can wash and block it to be ready to bring after I close up Saturday afternoon! We have a trip planned to go visit for the weekend.
The pattern has buttons all the way done the side front as well as along the bottom but I am leaning towards joining the front and back together instead. Too many buttons to do up when you also have a very active 18 month old! I may still sew on all of the buttons over the buttonholes but they will just be decorative. Putting the onesie on the same way you put on an undershirt onesie will work just fine. Now I know that buttons on babywear is now controversial but we had buttons growing up, my kids all had buttons and the older grandkids all had buttons! Sew them on tightly and you are fine.
Two of my grandsons having fun in their “sandbox"
Jordan (my youngest), and my other two grandkids Caleb and Landon!

Solid Stitch Lines by La Maison de Saba is a sock recipe for not so plain and rather elegant toe-up socks. It is not a whole sock pattern but needs to be supplemented with your favourite toe and heel. Pick two colours: a variegated main colour (which will fade into the background), and a solid, maybe semisolid, contrast colour which will produce the foreground. You will need equal amounts of the two colours, depending on the length of your socks, with a bit more of the variegated MC needed. 2.0 mm (US 0) and 2.25 mm (US 1) needles are used for a gauge of 34 stitches and 56 rows = 4 inches in stockinette.
Such a pretty sock!
The Age of Brass and Steam Kerchief by Orange Flower Yarn is a unisex triangular scarf/kerchief knitted in DK weight yarn. The shawl is approx. 53 inches in width and 15 inches from center back to center point, when blocked aggressively. A single skein of DK weight yarn will yield a kerchief size but could easily be made with fingering to worsted weight yarn. By simply adding more repeats of the stockinette and garter ribbed eyelet sections, you can make a kerchief or shawl as large as you want. Knit it using Malabrigo Arroyo, Malabrigo Rios, SweetGeorgia Superwash DK but really this one can be knit with anything! It was originally designed using a DK weight yarn using a 5.0 m (US 8) needloes for a gauge of 18 stitches and 24 rows = 4 inches in stockinette.;
