Free Pattern Fridays - Friday, May 18, 2018, Issue 54: It is the May 24 Long Weekend!!

It is a beautiful spring day out even if it isn't that sunny! No big plans for the long weekend for us but my daughter and her family have plans to go camping! I plan to work on my work in progress and maybe some weaving...

hapichick’s Fall Miette by Andi Satterlund

Miette by Andi Satterlund is a cropped cardigan with 3/4 sleeves and eyelet details. It’s perfect to wear over summer dresses to extend their life from late spring to early fall. The stockinette body makes the knitting almost mindless, but the scalloping eyelets keep things interesting. The cardigan’s seamless top down construction allows you to try it on as you go so you get the perfect fit. Pictured above is hapichick's second Miette that she knit for fall...she also knit a Summer Miette!

Pandamum’s Miette by Andi Satterlund

Pandamum's Miette  was knit with modifications to shaping which is just how I would do it but with 2-4" of positive ease instead of negative ease. The pattern calls for worsted weight yarn with a gauge of 16 stitches and 22 rows = 4 inches in stockinette using 5.00 mm (US 8) needles and 4.5 mm (US 7) for the ribbing. Knit it using Zen Yarn Garden's Serenity Worsted, Malabrigo Rios, Berroco Ultra Alpaca or for the summer using Berroco Remix!

Stratus Wrap by Alexandra Tavel - Two of Wands

Another great shawl is Alexandra Tavel's Stratus Wrap! There is also an ad-free, printable version available for purchase HERE. This "wrap will envelope you in fuzzy warmth that is as light as air. Wear it wrapped in front or back and prepare to feel snuggled all day long." It was inspired by low-hanging, multi-layered stratus clouds that blanket the earth in grey fog. Aran weight yarn is called for and knit with a gauge of 12 stitches and 17.5 rows = 4 inches in stockinette using 8.0 mm (US 11) needles.

After wearing it a few times, I blocked my finished shawl...Wow...Look how big my Local Yarn Shawl by Casapinka blocked! The finished wingspan is 93 inches by 19 inches deep!

Took advantage of the sunshine by knitting on my Morning Sky by Heidi Kirrmaier outdoors!

This week, I took advantage of the sunshine by knitting on my Morning Sky by Heidi Kirrmaier outdoors! Lots of mindless stockinette now until I get to the underarms.

I have managed to squeeze in enough knitting to be on my second skein of Manos Milo!

WORLD WIDE KNIT IN PUBLIC DAY 2018

World Wide Knit in Public Day was started in 2005 by Danielle Landes. It began as a way for knitters to come together and enjoy each other’s company. Knitting is such a solitary act that it’s easy to knit alone somewhere and sink into your work without thinking about all the other knitters out there. Neighbors could spend all their lives never knowing that the other knits. This a specific day to get out of your house and go to a local event (with your knitting in tow) just for you and people like you. Who knows you might even bump into your neighbor! Consider this a spark, to ignite a fire; getting all of the closeted knitters out into fresh air.

World Wide Knit in Public Day! Join in the fun!

Join in the fun and meet other knitters and crafters for fibre fun! We will have giveaways throughout the day for those who participate in either the Knit in Public event here or the one hosted by Art Space Essex!

What to bring:
Any project to work on. I do have folding chairs but you can bring your own, sunglasses, sunscreen and water. I will have coffee, tea, water and some goodies but you can bring something to share!

Backup plan:
If it rains or gets too hot, we will move inside!

Is this KIP going to be exclusive to knitting?
No

Happy Friday, Happy Knitting, Crocheting and Crafting!

I just checked Ravelry and unfortunately, the designer retired her pattern at the end of 2018 and replaced it with Crumb. Look for an email from me!

Any chance I would be able to get a copy of the Miette by Andi Satterlund cropped cardigan sweater pattern? I see the sweater, but can't find the pattern anywhere. Thank you.
