January is selfish knitting month so knit yourself something with a squishy, decadent yarn!

Canopy by Melody Hoffmann is inspired by the wonderful forests that surround her home. "When I stand in front of my kitchen’s window the only thing that I can really see is the green canopy of the pine trees that spreads accross countless of miles. The shape and textures of this shawl pattern are a tribute to this evergreen forest."

It is a triangular shawl with an interesting texture that will keep you entertained one row after the other. The lace and twisted stitches remain quite simple, making the pattern very accesible to advanced-beginner knitters, and a quick knit to more skilled knitters. The pattern features both charts and written instructions.

The Fibre Company, Road to China Light. 159 yards/ 50g
65% Baby Alpaca, 15% Silk, 10% Cashmere, 10% Camel
(3 skeins) OR appr. 480 yards of sport weight yarn.

NEEDLES
5.0 mm (US 8) circular needle
4.0 mm (US 6) circular needle for the knitted-edging.

FINISHED GAUGE
19 stitches & 26 rows= 4 inches in stockinette stitch after blocking.

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
160cm/63” long & 60cm/23” deep after blocking.

Diane (@boujeeknits) finished her Canopy Shawl by Melody Hoffmann using the pattern yarn - The Fibre Company Road to China Light.

Hoarfrost by Andrea Mowry is an asymmetrical triangle shawl full of texture that reminds her of the gorgeous sparkling frost that forms like delicate crystals in the stillness of winter.

5.0 mm (US 8) circular needle (32 in/80 cm-40 in/100 cm circular recommended)

20 sts & 24 rows = 4”/10 cm (measured over K/P pattern repeat after blocking)

WIPs

Not a huge amount of knitting time for me but I am happy to say I fit in more than last week! It is sweater weather and I want to finish my WIP as soon as I can! My Stripes! by Andrrea Mowry that is on my needles is progressiing along even if I am on sleeve island.

It was even nice enough yesterday too take a photo on my deck! It was early in the morning so I got the shadows from the railings too. I have both sleeves on the needles because I don't want to run out of the stripe colours that I am using.

I tried on my Stripes! by Andrea Mowry on this morning to check the length of my sleeves...The pockets still need to be sewn down which I added with my modified version.

Two of Jen (@seaturtlecraftco)’s cats are now twinning! Pattern is a modified Mini Dachshund Piggy-Wiggy Dog Sweater by Valya Boutenko. Yarn is Schoppel Wolle Zauberball Starke 6.

Colourwork hats all knit by Veronica (xovee.knits). She says that knitting every day has kept her sane!

Libby finished her Baa-ble Hat by Donna Smith. This is always such a great hat to see knit up!

Angela finished Maja’s wintery headband and Fair Isle snowflake mug cosy.

Karen (kmae64) took our Colourwork and Steeking Class during the fall of 2019. After finishing her Felix Cardigan, she wanted to try colourwork again...Here’s her Katie’s Kep knit using Jamieson & Smith 2 Ply Jumper weight yarn! Of course, now she is ready for more colourwork!

Jenny (JChan8) had 42g left after finishing her Manhattan Cowl so knit the Muchness Hat, both by Susan Ashcroft.

Kathy (chantrykathy) knit Starving Artist by Laura Linneman using Noro Ito and sized down by 2 repeats.

Jocelyne (jocblais)’s Love Note by tincanknits is so pretty!

Also off Jocelyne (jocblais)’s needles is this pair of Persephone Mittens by Emily Foden. I only have one copy of Emily's book Knits About Winter in stock!

Linda (lmcnorton) finished her Tiny Dancer by Mary Annarella.
