Rain, snow and cold...Great excuse for us makers to snuggle and knit or make something wonderful! Veronica, better known as xovee.knits on Instagram knit this gorgeous hat!
She is taking a break from all of her cable knitting and mixed it up with this new stitch design...she doesn't know the name of this particular stitch that she has used so if anyone knows...
I can’t wait until Veronica writes up the pattern for this gorgeously textured hat! Cozy, winter knitting are what we want right now!
Andrea from Expression Fibre Arts and designed by Jane Vanselous is free for a limited time so hurry and download it if you want something that is perfect for taking off the chill on a cool, crisp winter day. Simple, yet elegant with a combination of 2x2 rib andd cables. The Andrea cowl is a fairly quick knit, using bulky yarn and 8.0 mm (US 11) needles for a gauge of 18 stitches and 16 rows = 4 inches in the 2x2 rib pattern. Knit it using Malabrigo Mecha or Garnstudio Drops Eskimo. The finished cowl is approximately 36” in circumference and 10” high, blocked.
Here is another free cozy cowl - Purl Soho’s Wandering Cable Cowl uses a super bulky yarn! You need approximately 146 yards and 9.0 mm (US 13) circular needles in either a 16 or 24" length. The cowl has a gauge of 11 stitches and 14 rows = 4 inches in the stitch pattern. Knit it using Malabrigo Rasta, TJOCKT Martta the Merino or Garnstudio Drops Andes.
WIP's and FO's
I am not quite finished but I have just a few ends to weave in on my Nalu Mitts by Leila Raven. These took about 35g of yarn to knit! I used Cascade 220 Sport but if you want a softer, less rustic yarn use Berroco Ultra Alpaca Light or Kelbourne Woolens Andorra. These are great fingerless mitts to knit and the pattern is free too!
Now I cast my Papillon Shawl by Marin Melchior for our KAL later than everyone else but here I go! I am using Urth Yarns Uneek Fingering in 3007 Autumn Walks and Urth Yarns Harvest Fingering in 23 Black Grape.
Love the way those “blips” pop in my Nightshift Shawl by Andrea Mowry WIP! I am using the The Fibre Company Arranmore Light in Kinnego Bay from my leftover yarn stash as my main colour. For my contrast colours, I am using Schoppel Wolle Starke 6 in 2 colours - one as the contrast colour in rows 1-20 nd one as the contrast colour in rows 21-40.

Our Nightshift KAL has begun with six people signed up for the Wednesday afternoon Nightshift Shawl - Learn Mosaic Knitting Pre-Pay KAL. Andrea Mowry's Nightshift or The Shift is what we started with. Fun footlets...perfect bed socks! Great design that allows them to be made without seams or sewing! Knit by Paulette from her book by Priscilla Gibson Roberts.
Sandi finished Chris’s new socks!! The Pattern is Basic Ribbed Socks by Kate Atherley available as a free Ravelry download.
The beautiful top view of a test knit Jen did for @brittyraeknits.
Sonia (@soniabknits on Instagram) knit this stunning Colourscape Cowl designed by Marji LaFreniere using the Koigu KPPPM mini skeins in the Advent Calendar 2019 that she bought from the shop.
My sister knit herself Little Wave by Gudrun Johnston a year or so ago...My nephew Mac decided he wanted one too! Mary knit his above using Hikoo Kenzington and modified the pattern a wee bit for length and a wider shawl collar. Unfortunately, the dark colour makes it hard to see the beautiful details.
Dianne’s sweet Little Girl Mouse by Little Cotton Rabbits!
Last Sunday was the third time we have run our Rigid Heddle Weaving Workshop! Sunday's group have asked for a followup workshop with some more advanced techniques so that is coming soon!
Diane showing off the scarf she wove during last Sunday’s Weaving Workshop!
Deb finished her scarf but I only have these pics so far...She was loving how the colours flow in the Noro Ito she used for the weft.
