Friday, July 10, 2020, Issue 156: What is on your needles?

Summer has definitely come and boy it has been hot! Today's rain has cooled it down outside but it is still stay inside and knit or make weather!

The V-Back Tee by Jamie Hoffmann of Knitosophy Designs is not a new pattern but has been popping up as a great summer tee to make on Instagram because the new DK version was released in June! Both Jen and Heidi have started one of the fingering weight version.

The V-Back Tee by Jamie Hoffmann is reversible! Knit in four colours, five colours or just one!!

The V-Back Tee by Jamie Hoffmann is reversible! Worn in back the V offers a nonstandard back neckline with a scoop neck in front; worn in front the V becomes a v-neck with a fabric that accentuates the bust before subtly cascading to the hem. Wear it both ways for an equally flattering fit.

With a top-down construction this tee features back v-shaping that begins at the start of the ribbed neckband and continues all the way down to the hem. The v-shaping is created by a series of paired increases that surrounds a graceful spine, and side decreases offset the widening fabric. Two sets of German short rows even up the front hem with the back.

Knit it in four colours, five colours or even just one!! Gauge is 22 sts and 34 rows/rounds = 4 in/10 cm of stockinette using suggested needle sizes of 3.25 mm (US 3) for the ribbing and 4.0 mm (US 6) for the main fabric or as required to meet gauge.

Faded Frenzy by Andrea Yetman is another faded tee pattern! This one is available for free on Ravelry from Biscotte Yarns.

Faded Frenzy by Andrea Yetman is another faded tee pattern! This one is available for free on Ravelry from Biscotte Yarns. This tee is knit top down starting with the back and then picking up stitches in the cast on edge of the back for the front which is worked flat to the arm holes. The front and back are then joined to work in the round. There is a little short row shaping for the neckline and for the hem. After the tee is knit there is no need to pick up stitches for the neckline or the cuffs of the sleeve. Once bound off at the hem the tee is complete!! This tee is meant to be worn with 2– 4 inches of positive ease.

Gauge is 24 stitches and 33 rows = 4 inches; 10 cm in stockinette using the recommended 3.5 mm (US 4) needles for ribbing and 3.75 mm (US 5) needles for the main fabric or as required to meet gauge.

Suggested yarns for both Tees are Ancient Arts Socknado, Lichen and Lace 80/20 Sock, SweetGeorgia Tough Love Sock, Hedgehog Fibres Hedgehog Sock. Mix and match fingering / sock yarns to get the fade you want!

Sweet summer socks! Pattern is Midsummer Blossoms by This Handmade Life including two versions of socks to knit!

Sweet summer socks! Pattern is Midsummer Blossoms by This Handmade Life including two versions of socks to knit! The lacy anklets are very pretty and take no time at all. The lace is intuitive, don’t let it intimidate you. The striped lace version is more fun, pick a solid and a speckled in bright colors for some summery stripes. The lace portion is short and then its all stripes. The pattern is 25% off until Sunday but even without the sale are very reasonably priced!

Melanie Berg’s Schnee is a heavenly soft shawl designed to be knit using Shibui Knits Silk Cloud and Lunar.

Melanie Berg’s Schnee is a heavenly soft shawl designed to be knit using Shibui Knits Silk Cloud and Lunar. The two halves of the rectangular shawl are individually knit on the bias, then joined together with a 3-needle bind-off. The shawl’s stripes come from alternating rows of Shibui Knits Silk Cloud with rows of Shibui Knits Lunar and Silk Cloud held together.

The resulting blend of silk, mohair, and merino create a fabric that’s as light and fluffy as a snowflake, and the shawl’s large size allows for countless styling options. Gauge is 20 stitches and 34 rows = 4 inches
in pattern stitch, blocked using a recommended needle size of 3.25 mm (US 3).

With a gauge of 21 stitches and 31 rows = 4 inches in stockinette, I would be farther than just an inch past the body and sleeve separation if I wasn't also working on my other WIP!

My Rock It Tee by Tanis Lavallee is getting close to finished...how many more stripes?

My Rock It Tee by Tanis Lavallee is getting close to finished...how many more stripes should I knit? The pattern says to knit the body to 15 inches from the armhole...I will try it on again so that I can decide.
