Winter knitting for me includes sweaters and cardigans...Cardigans like this one that Connie knit for her granddaughter using Malabrigo Arroyo in the Plomo colourway!
Connie used Andrea Mowry's Comfort Fade Cardi pattern to knit this No Fade Cardi brecause Ava wanted a plain one.
The Comfort Fade Connie knit for herself was finished last January...She knit it when she, Natalie and I did a KAL together to each make one.
We each knit one using Koigu Kersti - Connie used the Olive Kit for hers. We knit ours as written with reverse stockinette for the right side while Connie chose to use the stockinette side as her right side.
Natalie knit her Comfort Fade Cardi using Koigu Kersti with the Blue pack.
My Comfort Fade Cardi was knit using the Koigu Kersti Purple pack. Loved the pattern and as you can see from Connie's newest version, you can knit it using a single colour.
This open cardigan is super cozy with its garter shawl collar! The Reverse Stockinette makes a stunning canvas to fade on for the most unique cardigan in your wardrobe!! This is how Andrea describes the cardigan. It calls for DK weight in 4 colors to create a cohesive fade and is intended to be worn with with 2-4”/5-10 cm positive ease. The gauge is 21 sts & 32 rows = 4”/10 cm on 4.0 mm (US 6) needles while the ribbing is knit using 3.75 mm (US 5) needles. To save time and ensure accurate measurements, take time to check gauge.
The Lunenburg Pullover Amy Christoffers is the type of top down stranded pullover I love to knit and wear on blustery, cold winter days.
Lunenburg Pullover is worked from the top down in the round with a ‘Bohus-ish’ stranded yoke. The fit on this garment is easily adapted to suit your taste- choose +/- ease to suit your style. Finished measurements are actual measurement around chest/hip after blocking. The length is slightly cropped- if you wish to add additional length to the body please plan your yarn purchases accordingly and be sure to have a little extra of your MC yarn.
The yoke pattern is charted and there is short row shaping after the color work.
The gauge is 24 sts and 32 rows = 4” in St st on 3.75 mm (US 5) needles. 3.25 mm (US 3) needles are used for the ribbing. To save time and ensure accurate measurements, take time to check gauge.
Soft Cuddles Baby Sweater from the Fraya website is a sweet baby sweater that is free! This would make an awesome gift knit! It is marked as for an experienced knitter so it isn't for everyone but it is cute! It calls for fingering weight yarn knit using 3.0 mm (US 2.5) needles for the body and 2.5 mm (US 1.5) needles for the rib or as required to get the gauge of 24 stitches and 36 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch.
WIP's and FO's
For this one, I knit the size 4-6 using the last of the Bergere de France Jaspee in the Pangolin colour. I have very little left of this yarn. For anyone wanting to knit it, you can use Estelle Worsted's Ragg colours or for a woolier version you can use Navia Sock.
My Rug by Junko Okamoto is taking me longer than normal because I have had so many things on my needles! A few more rows is all I need to do to finish the body! It is more than long enough so I am going to knit it shorter than the pattern calls for and then onto the sleeves!
I also started the shop sample for the upcoming first ever Malabrigo KAL starting April 1, 2020! I have signed the shop up as participating so I hope many of you will decide to join in! There is also the Pre-Pay KAL with Kathy for those of you who would like to have a teacher guiding you along! The pattern and yarn has been chosen by Malabrigo - Odyssey Shawl by Joji Locatelli is the pattern and Malabrigo Dos Tierras is the yarn.
KNIT GROUP AND GALLERY
The current Knit-Alongs are the Butterfly / Papillon KAL and the Knit Any Shawl KAL and the Knit Your Project: the everlasting knit-along to encourage and support you to knit is running from January 1 until March 31st. Don't forget to post your finished projects so that you will be included in our quarterly draw!
Linda finished the Mystery Gnome KAL 3! I love it! Sarah Schira’s Gnome patterns and KALs are super cute and fun. This one is Gnome is Where You Hang Your Hat.
Look at that wonderful hat!
Sandi finished her Gnome is Where You Hang Your Hat from the Sarah Schira’s Mystery Gnome KAL 3 as well! Of course she named her project her Gnome Away From Home since she has been away! I think Sandi has done every one of Sarah's Gnomes now!
Heidi and Jen both knit Shambala by Melinda Measor. Heidi knit her stunning shawl in bright, happy colours!
Dianne knit her Nightshift by Andrea Mowry with a kit she purchased while on vacation! She used Cascade Superwash Wave (sorry but I don't carry this one).
Alma’s finished Nightshift is beautiful and her daughter loves it!
This is all Alma had left of her 2 cakes of Noro Ito though! Playing yarn chicken until where she decided to bind off a few rows early!
Sue2Knits will be joining in for Malabrigo Yarns first ever Knit-Along this April! The pattern that Malabrigo has chosen for the KAL is the Odyssey Shawl by Joji Locatelli (a free Ravelry download) and it is to be knit using Malabrigo Dos Tierras. It will be open to everyone but we will also have a Pre-Pay KAL with Kathy for those who wish instruction and help while you knit the project every Wednesday afternoon in April. The class itself will be limited to 6 but I will also add it to our Ravelry group with the links as well. Malabrigo Dos Tierras is available for purchase with a few more colours and Kits coming soon!
For Malabrigo's KAL, they will need either a Facebook Name, an IG account or Ravelry ID because they would like to see the progress of the winners posted on their social media so that they can share across their social media channels as well. All the information will be confidential and will not be used for any other purpose except for the KAL communication. The link below is Malabrigo's sign up form so their KAL is an added bonus for anyone interested in our KAL class.
