A super fun 1x1 colorwork pattern offers endless opportunities to use up fingering weight scraps, minis and stash yarn. BONUS there are absolutely NO ENDS TO WEAVE IN (video tutorial included.)

The yoke is a drop shoulder / raglan hybrid, making it perfect for playing with stripes, self striping yarn, or colour blocking! Body and sleeves are knit in the round.

Skills required for this design include knitting flat and in the round, increases and decreases, and picking up stitches!

Intended to fit with approximately 10-17 cm (4-7 inches) of positive ease around the chest. The body length is slightly cropped and the sleeves are 3/4 length, but both can easily be modified as they are knit top down. Just make sure you have enough yarn if you plan to lengthen anything.

You can use any dk weight yarn (or combination of yarns) that gives you the pattern gauge and a fabric that is not too open or drapey. As the neckline is not finished in ribbing, you may wish to check that your yarn doesn’t curl too much post blocking.

GAUGE: 22 stitches and 30 rows = 4 inches

NEEDLES: 3.5 mm (US 4)

Heidi used Berroco Remix Light for her sample.

An older pattern for a striped sweater but still wildly popular is ...a hint of summer by Isabell Kraemer! It is an incredibly light weight, very comfy tee, with a fantastic drape and a flattering shape.

Janetknitter on Ravelry’s Boxy by Joji Locatelli is striped using Koigu!

Boxy by Joji Locatelli lends itself beautifully to being knit striped! Here is Janetknitter on Ravelry’s striped using Koigu!

Boxy is a very simple modern sweater, with a very wide body and skinny sleeves. Worked with a lightweight yarn it is very flattering, drapey and stylish! A little short row section in the shoulders adds an interesting texture to the sleeves. Directions are given to make a seamless version (worked in the round) or a seamed version (worked back and forth) of the body. The sleeves and the neckband are worked seamlessly in the round in both versions.

This sweater can fit a big range of sizes. The biggest difference among the different sizes is the sleeve circumference. Also, I designed this sweater to be a little bit cropped. You can easily add some inches to the body section to make it longer.

Materials:
Yarn: Madelinetosh Tosh Merino Light (420 yd /100g), or any other fingering weight yarn that knits to the gauge: 4 (4, 4, 4, 5, 5, 5) skeins.
Needles:
US 4 (3.5mm) straight or circular needles for the body (directions for seamed and seamless versions are provided).
US 4 (3.5mm) and US 2½ (3mm) circular needles for the neckband and sleeves (needed for both versions).
Other Notions:
Stitch holders, tapestry needle, an extra needle for 3-needle-bind off.

Other suggested yarns: Koigu KPM and KPPPM - check also their Collector's Club, Malabrigo Sock or Mechita

Gauge:
23 st and 30 rows to 4 inches on US 4 (3.5mm) needles, in stockinette stitch, after blocking.

Each mini skein of Koigu in the Koigu Advent 2020 kit is 25g (87yds) x 25! I weighed each before starting each section and after finishing each section. I still have about 16 - 17g left of each mini skein.

I am about to start the underarm shaping...This part of the pattern is knit flat and at the moment I am undecided. Do I follow the pattern or do I try to see if I can figure out how to adapt the pattern to steek the armholes too?
