Have you ever wanted to learn how to make socks and think it’s way too hard? Or been intimidated by working with double pointed needles? Learning to knit socks on the Magic Loop! The goal at the end of the 4th class is to have both of your socks complete! Once you try the magic loop you won’t go back to knitting any other way!
Required experience: Beginner. Students must know how to knit and purl.
First class: Knit 'top-down', these socks are cast on at the cuff, then worked in the round to the heel.
Third class: With the extra week in between, you should be ready to work the heel on both socks. Heel is formed by working the heel flap back and forth in rows, turning the heel with short row shaping which decrease and 'turn' the corner. Then stitches are picked up along the sides of the heel flap, the work is joined into the round again. We will begin working the gusset toward decreasing rounds working the foot in the round to the toe.
Fourth class: We will shape the toe with decreases, then seame the toes closed using kitchener stitch (also known as grafting).
