With the wild weather that we have had with the heat, rain, and high winds, I hope you have all managed to ride it out with a minimum of damage! Do you have summer knits on your needles or have you started your cool weather fall knitting??

The shop will be closed for in-store shopping July 31 until August 4th. The online shop is always open. Shipping orders received will ship August 7. Pickups can possibly be made on August 5 from Paulette but please confirm first.

Springfling by thepetiteknitter is a cute, flirty and quirky design. You can knit it with short sleeves for the warm summer days or opt for long sleeves for colder days in winter.

It is a matching design for the springfling socks.

This unisex jumper is knitted top-down and in the round. It features a circular yoke and comes in ten adult sizes with customization options for body length and sleeve length. It is straight and a bit oversized. The sample is cropped, but the pattern include instructions for full length.

Materials

Yarn
400 yards sock or fingering weight yarn, approximately 250 yards (230m) MC and 150 yards (138m) CC

Full skeins of both is enough yarn to knit 2 pair of socks for smaller sizes, or with flipped MC/CC for most sizes.

Needles
2.5 mm (US 1.5) 32” circular (or longer) for leg and foot (gauge needle)
2 mm (US 0) 32” circular (or longer) for cuff, heel and toe

Gauge
32 stitches and 64 rows = 4”/ 10 cm in Pressed Flowers Pattern with gauge needle.

NOTES

The Pressed Flowers socks are worked from the cuff down to the toe with an afterthought heel. The pattern is written using the magic loop method, please substitute whatever method of knitting a small circumference you prefer.

The mosaic knitting Pressed Flowers motif is worked throughout the sock- it is very stretchy which helps give these socks a snug fit. For wider feet, or those with larger shoe sizes going up a needle size (or two) for a gauge of 30 stitches and 60 rows over 4” for an 8 ½”/ 21.5 cm (unstretched) circumference or 28 stitches and 56 rows over 4” for a 9”/ 23 cm (unstretched) circumference.

WIPs and FOs

My class sample of Sunshine Coast by Heidi Kirrmaier for our Top Down Pullover Class is now a few inches below the separation of the body and the sleeves.

This is Marilyn (@mariwana64)’s class WIP! Yarn is Berroco Remix Light.

On Wednesday, I had half of the first sleeve knit on my Aallokko Sweater by Tiina Huhtaniemi for Tukuwool test knit while wearing it. I used the requested Tukuwool DK.

I bound off the first sleeve last night!

I started the twisted ribbing on the first sleeve of my Serkinet by Kate Davies for our #sue2kniitskatedavieskal.

I discovered that I used the smaller needles (2.75 mm) for my entire sleeve instead of the 3.0 mm needle that i used for the body! No wonder I had to knit so many more rounds…I had to work 5 repeats of the sleeve chart to get the length required before the ribbing.
