Free Pattern Fridays - Friday, March 2, 2018: What a wild weather day yesterday was!

Free Pattern Fridays - Friday, March 2, 2018: What a wild weather day yesterday was!

First pouring rain, then sleet and snow last night and then it was sunny with the snow melting today!

Yesterday, I happily knit with some podcasts and the fireplace going! It really was great to settle in and since I decided to try to stay off my computer, I managed to get a fair bit done!

Skein Hash Cowl by Sybil R.

Skein Hash Cowl by Sybil R is a stashbusting cowl that is knit flat starting with a provisional cast on and then joined in the round with the kitchener stitch. It is knit using garter stitch on the bias using fingering weight yarn that can be all of your yarn leftovers!

woollenwild’s Spring Fern Socks

These pretty socks are woollenwild's Spring Fern Socks. The pattern is Spring Fern Socks by Susan Lutsky, a lace cuff-down sock that includes the chart as well as written instructions. You will need 350 to 400 yards of sock yarn and the needles to get a gauge of 32 stitches = 4 inches in stockinette stitch.

Chaqueta Nordica and Pantalon Nordico by Maria del Puerto Fernandez in puntomoderno

Chaqueta Nórdica and Pantalón Nórdico by maria del puerto fernandez (puntomoderno) are 2 sweet baby patterns that I came across this week - a cute stranded cardigan and matching short pants. The links are a little hard to figure out so click here for the sweater and here for the short pants. Maria includes some tutorial photos and videos which you can get to from the Ravelry link but they are unfortunately in Spanish. Knit them using Garnstudio Drops Baby Merino using 2.5 mm (US 1.5) and 3.0 mm (US 2.5) needles for a gauge of 24 stitches and 32 rows = 4 inches.

WIP's and FO's

Sue2Knits Comfort Fade Cardi - Front, March 2, 2018

I finished my Comfort Fade Cardi! Hooray! I still have a few more ends to weave in and then it needs to be blocked but I am very happy with it even with the sleeves that are a few inches too long. I will turn the garter stitch cuffs up! I have not typed up all of my project notes on to my Project page yet but I will soon!

Sue2Knits Vintersol WIP - March 2, 2018

While I love how my Vintersol by Jennifer Steingass is turning out - it looks beautiful but and it is a big but - I should have trusted my initial reaction after I finished the yoke! I had stopped, thinking that I should tink back to the round where I was to add stitches at the point you split the body and sleeves. I even did all my calculations but since the sweater did fit - and it still does, I left it alone. Now the whole body and yoke is done and I find I am disappointed! I like my oversized and boxy pullovers that I like to wear with skinny pants or straight skirts...So I am on the fence about frogging back! Knowing me, I will most like;ly frog back and re-knit the body!

I am knitting it for the Berroco-Lopi Knit-Along, knit.love.wool Knit-Along and the Sue2Knits Knit-Along so I hope that I can still get it finished before March 15th - the deadline for the Berroco-Lopi KAL!

KNIT GROUP AND GALLERY

The current Knit-Along is an Any Project Knit-Along! The deadline for this one is March 31, 2018 so there is still time to get your project completed and entered in the next draw! You don't have to come to a Knit Afternoon or Knit Night to be included in the draw but you do need to post your finished projects to the Group Finished Objects thread on Ravelry.

This February, Sue2Knits participated in the #28daysofyourlys photo blitz. Every day in February, local yarn shops from all over came together to show you what we are all about. The posts were all on Instagram and shared on Facebook. While it often took some thought to come up with something to fit the daily topic, it was fun to see them all. If you haven't checked out the hashtag, you should - really amazing to see everyone's take for the daily posts! Here are some of our posts from February.
