It is officially summer and we are really feeling it even when it is wet out. I can't say that I ever put my needles down...I knit and make year round and I hope you do too!

I can never get enough summer tops knit fast enough to wear!

Lace Market by Marie Greene is knit  top-down, seamless and in the round (with an easily-memorized lace repeat), Lace Market is a quick, wearable knit just in time for warm weather.

Main Street by Megan Nodecker (Pip & Pin) is a light top with a scalloped lacy hem. It knit in the round from the bottom up with no waist shaping, has dropped shoulders and a nice, wide crew neck. It will very easily become a comfy go-to staple in your Spring and Summer wardrobe.

The lace in the pattern has both written and charted instructions.

WIPs and FOs

The Frog and Toad by Kristina Ingrid McGowan (Frog & Cast) are all off my needles, blocked and on the way to my grandson! I used Berroco Vintage in Olive for the frog and Oats for the toad.

Here is the completed frog in his ribbed pants and jacket. I used leftover Bergere de France Ideal in Lievre stash yarn for the pants and Berroco Ultra Alpaca Fine in Tiger's Eye Mix stash yarn held double for the jacket.

Here is the completed toad in his striped bathing suit knit using Regia 6 Ply Tweed yarn stash in Natur and Berroco Vintage in Olive. The 6 Ply Tweed was also used for the eyes. I used Regia 6 Ply Tweed stash yarn in Anthracite for the embroidered mouth and pupils.

This is what I shipped to my grandson for his third birthday gift!

I have separated the yoke and the sleeves of my Fireworks sweater by Marie Greene for her Fireworks Olive Knits 4 Day KAL!

Most of the participating shops had their samples knit and ready for June 7th but here I am lagging behind but loving it already. I chose to knit mine using The Fibre Co Arranmore Light in Orla using 3.5 mm needles since I am a loose knitter.

KNIT GROUP AND GALLERY

The newest Knit-Alongs are the Any Sweater / Shawl KAL and the Knit Any Project: the everlasting knit-along to encourage and support you to knit is running from May 1 to August 31, 2021. I will get a thread started soon!

Remember to post photos to the finished object (FO) thread when you finish a project during the Knit-Along so that you will be included in the next draw! We will also add the option of posting your finished project to Instagram using the #sue2knitskal so that I can find them!

Angie (KnittinGrapeVines) finished her Subtle Interruption Shawl by Espace Tricot. Yarn - Malabrigo Merino Lace and Shibui Knits Cima.

After Rosemary finished her first Wilson Top by Allyson Dykhuizen using Hikoo Concentric Cotton, she used up leftover stash to make herself a second “scrappy” one!

Patti (@patnelann) finished these Antler sweaters by Tin Can Knits with requested extra length for her twin granddaughters!

Brandi (@thegreenbuttonjar) had hand knit socks and a fresh apple pie for her stepdad on Father’s Day!

Brandi (@thegreenbuttonjar) finally took a photo showing all of her stunning Into the Woods by Melody Hoffman. Last week I included a photo of the folded sweater.

Jocelyne (jocblais) finished these Flying Bird Shorties by Joji Locatelli that are so fluffy it makes the photo look blurry!

VIRTUAL SOCIAL KNITTING

Virtual social knitting using the Zoom app! It has been a great way to knit together through social distancing! Join in with us either Tuesday afternoon from 2 - 4 pm or Thursday nights from 7 - 9 pm. We are continuing to hold our Zoom meetings each week until we can meet again in person. If you missed my post on social media awhile back…we are back and open for in-store shopping!

Since Friday, June 11th (Phase 1) you can come in, touch, look and browse as long as you wear a mask and stay 2m away from each other. Curbside pick up will still be available for anyone still not comfortable with coming in as well as shipping.

There is of course, a lot to see at the shop! There is a ton of yarn, kits and accessories and is well stocked. Thank you so much for supporting us during the pandemic.

We still want to be cautious so for everyone's safety, I hope you will follow these guidelines.

 - There will be a maximum of 3 clients allowed inside

 - Masks are mandatory. If you are unable to wear a mask, please order online

 - Sanitize your hands upon entry

 - The time limit will be 15 minutes if there are people waiting

Keep in mind that according to Ontario law, if you are exposed to someone who tests positive for COVID, you have to quarantine in your home for 14 days, even if your tests come back negative.

Classes will resume when 10 people are allowed in the shop at once.
