Happy Canadian Thanksgiving to everyone this weekend. It's that time of year again when we gather together with family and friends to enjoy a delicious meal and to connect and reflect on what we are thankful for. Store Hours For Canadian Thanksgiving Long Weekend

This year the shop will be be closed Saturday, Sunday and Monday in order for me to spend it with my family. We are celebrating on Saturday which is the only day everyone is available because of shift work and the organized sports schedules for my grandchildren.

There was a sea of Buggiflooer Beanies at the Welcome evening – this was one of their favourite photos from the event. Thank you Alison Rendall for your star of a hat that will be knitted and worn for years to come.

Alison’s hat is a distinctive design that incorporates traditional elements together with a flower motif. She chose the name Buggiflooer – a Shetland name for Sea Campion – which grows in abundance near her home by the sea.

WIPs and FOs

I finished my Lace & Fade Boxy by Joji Locatelli that I knit for the Joji Fall KAL 2023, Pullovers. The yarn I used is Hedgehog Fibres Sock in Salty Tales and Pet Rock.

I am happy with the fit and the length. Wet blocking didn’t change the dimensions very much from the dimensions from the steam blocking that I did along the way. 

I started out with a long tail cast on first but changed my mind and used a crochet cast on using a 2.5 mm crochet hook so that both shoulders started off looking the same.

I knit the smallest 59 inch size and the size 5 armhole depth. I used 3.0 mm needles for my main needles. Remember, I am a loose knitter! I decided not to use mohair. My main stripes are 20 rows. Hem ribbing is 10 rounds.

I picked up up 66 stitches for the sleeves. At 58 stitches, I switched to 2.75 mm needles to rib for 10 rounds.

I didn’t like my uneven neck edge so I picked up 136 stitches around the neck using 2.75 mm needle and tried a 5 round stockinette rolled edge but didn’t like it. I frogged it back to the pick up round and ribbed for 5 rounds before binding off.

I cast on a new Bunny in a dotty dress by Julie Williams for my granddaughter soon to be born this month. I am using Bergere de France Ideal which is what I used for all the bunnies and lambs that I knit.

These little bunnies don’t really take that long but are a bit fiddly because they are small, knit flat and sewn together.

Here she is finished with plain feet instead of the Mary Janes that are part of the feet and not separate. I’m planning to knit the removable Mary Jane shoes instead from the Removable Shoes pattern.

I finished her dotty dress for her little wardrobe.

This little bunny who now has a Ballerina Wrap Cardigan in her wardrobe knit using Drops Brushed Alpaca Silk.

I am designing and knitting a tutu for her to go with the Ballerina Wrap.
