I have been enjoying the sunshine we have finally been getting, have you? It is still cold but I know that I am tired of the grey gloom and am hoping winter will end soon!

Sylphe by Natasja Hornby is a triangular heart-shaped shawl that is worked top-down from the center out, starting with a classic Garter Tab cast on. The eye catching, graceful leaf and flower patterns are created by pulling loops through the fabric. The pattern provides detailed instructions, and you can also refer to the Moonstruck Knits video tutorial for additional guidance on creating Sylphe.

SIZES
One size
Wingspan approx 205 cm / 80.75”.
Depth approx 70 cm / 27.5”.

YARN
Approx 1150 m / 1250 yards of a sport weight yarn.

Sample shown in Rowan Felted Tweed, 50% Wool, 25% Alpaca, and 25% Viscose, 175 m / 190 yards per 50 g.

NEEDLES
Needle A
One 100 cm / 40” (or longer) circular needle in size needed to obtain gauge listed.
Suggested needle size: 3.5 mm (US 4).

GAUGE
Measured after blocking.
Loopy leaf pattern on Needle A: 19 sts x 30 rows = 10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4”.
Loopy flower pattern on Needle A: 19 sts x 34 rows = 10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4”.

NOTE
The Leaf and Flower patterns are CHARTED ONLY.

Crimson Twilight Cowl by Adam Christofi is a free Ravelry download for a simple cowl which he chose to knit using one skein of Malabrigo Rios, a beautiful soft yarn.

This cowl is something any knitter could make, whether you are a beginner or an expert.

The name comes from a Crimson Twilight Sunset, the red and purple tones within the shade he used, reminded him of a bright/moody red sunset.

There is no required tension/gauge for this pattern, but if you are a tight/loose knitter, you can always go up/down a needle size to compensate. The finished size is 8”/20cm in height and 12.5”/32cm in width (approx).

NEEDLES
5.0 mm (US 8) 24” (50 cm) circular needle.

Mutsch by Isabell Kraemer is a big fat triangular shawl that could give you a much needed hug when times are a bit difficult.

Mutsch is sometimes used as a nick name for a mom and she couldn’t think of a better name for this shawl.

Starting with a garter tab cast-on, stitches are increased every RS row at both edges and at the center of the shawl. Pattern includes charts and written instructions (line by line) for the lace pattern. The easy to memorize lace pattern gradually shifts into garter stitch and adds just the right amount of interest to make knitting this shawl a relaxing but fun experience. Please note: The different sections of the lace pattern have the same “design”. They differ in some of the wrong side rows, so they are divided into individual sections.

YARN
approximately 756 yds (690 m).

NEEDLES
6.00 mm (US 10) circular needle, 40” (100 cm) long or size needed to get gauge.

GAUGE
14 sts x 23 rows = 4”(10 cm) square in lace pattern after light blocking.

Gauge is not crucial for this project but will affect yardage and final size when different.

WIPS and FOs

On Sunday morning, I had the right mitt finished and the left mitt started on my Gardener’s Prayer Handwarmers by Yamagara.

By Sunday night, they were finished and ready to block.

Yesterday, I added the embroidered details. I am knitting mine with Jamieson & Smith 2 Ply Jumper Weight. For my colours, the MC was 4 (2), CC1 was FC7 (1), CC2 was 29 Mix (1) and CC3 was FC11 (1).

I finished my Summit by Åsa Buchta shop sample. This squishy soft cowl is designed for and knit using Berroco Dash.

This was a fast knit! Last Thursday, I was almost finished the decreases on my Cold Hearts Hat by Caitlin Hunter.

My finished and blocked hat on Saturday. I used Garnstudio Drops Merino Extra Fine as my main colour and the left over Lang Frida from my Pressed Flowers Cardigan by Amy Christoffers as my contrast colour.

I am now on the last repeat on on my Malabrigo Dos Tierras KAL shop sample (Friendship Shawl by KnitSisu). Will I knit it bigger? I will decide that when I see how much yarn I have remaining.

KNIT GROUP AND GALLERY

Libby (lmudrack) finished the Antonia cardigan by Julie Weisenberger (@cocoknits) that she started when we taught the class. She used Berroco Elba, a cotton tape yarn which I no longer carry and has been discontinued.

Rita (ritz) knit her Antonia by Julie Weisenberger (@cocoknits) using Berroco Elba in the same colour I used when I knit mine.

For my Antonia by Julie Weisenberger (@cocoknits), I used Berroco Elba and Katrinkles Line Stitchable Buttons.

Cecilia (@advenruremonkey6) finished her stunning Maroon cardigan by Sasha Kagan from Rowan Magazine 64.

Cecilia used Rowan Felted Tweed and sewed in ends as she went.

Mirna finished her Toorie by Martin Storey in Rowan Felted Tweed from Rowan Magazine 65.

Beverley finished this set for new parents and their baby girl. She used Zen Yarn Garden Serenity 20 in French Vanilla, Chestnut and Orange-you-glad.

Debbie (@love.knit.spin.weave) finished a pair of socks for her husband using Schoppel Wolle Zauberball Crazy in colour 2099 Blue Break.

Jocelyne (jocblais) finished this gorgeous pair of Solid Stitch Lines socks by La Maison de Saba that she modified to knit cuff down.

Rosemary (@coolknitsbyrose) finished this pair of Floral Fingerless Gloves by Caroline Perisho.
