Brrr!! It is cold out there today! After the hot temperatures of a few days ago, the blustery chill reminds us that it is not ready for summer yet!
Last week, Isabell Kraemer released the exclusive patterns she designed for the mYak Spring Reteat 2024 in Venice / Murano: Mia Cara Tee and the Via Con Me Shawl.
Mia Cara is worked seamlessly from the top down. The back is worked in plain Stockinette stitch while the front features a texture pattern panel in the center. Knitting starts with the cast-on of the shoulders for the back. Once the short row shaped shoulder slope is done, the back is worked flat to underarm. Shoulder stitches are picked up to work the front to the same length. At underarm front and back are joined to work the body top down in rounds to the hem. Sleeve stitches are picked up around the arm openings to work the sleeves top down in rounds. Neck finishing is worked last.
The slightly higher tension of the slip stitch pattern results in a slightly raised, curved front edge. If you don’t like the cute hi-lo effect, you can straighten the hemline by blocking the center front a little more.

Via Con Me by Isabell Kraemer is a symmetrical triangular shawl, worked back and forth from the top down with the yarn held double throughout. Starting with a garter tab cast on, stitches are increased every RS row at both edges and at the center of the shawl. Instructions for the lace pattern are written out (line by line) and charted. The combination of the cute and easy lace pattern and the wide textured border give this shawl a sophisticated yet casual look.
YARN

or approximately 766 yds (700 m) of a heavy fingering/sport weight yarn (yarn held single)
NEEDLES

My Renaissance Sweater by Elinor Mortensen is off my needles!
I cast on using 2.5 mm needles and worked the short rows and yoke up to the chart using 2.75 mm needles but used 3.0 mm needles for the chart and body after deciding my gauge was smaller than the gauge using the same 2.75 mm needles that I used for my Secret Garden Sweater.
I knit the second size. I picked up 15 stitches (which is the same as the pattern) but I had enough stitches to finish all of the chart repeats (10 repeats) without the fake seam stitch.
For the sleeves, I picked up 7 and 8 on the one sleeve and 8 and 7 on the other sleeve (84) stitches for 3 complete repeats.
I used 2.5 mm long circulars for the sleeve cuff ribbing to get a tighter cuff than I was getting using my 14" short ChiaoGoo Interchangeables. For the body hem ribbing, I used 2.75 mm needles. I worked 15 rounds before binding off on both the cuffs and the bottom hem.
Before blocking:
Bust 43"
Length from underarm 13.5"
Centre front to hem 19"
Underarm to cuff 9"
After blocking:
Bust 44"
Length from underarm 14"
Centre front to hem 19"
Underarm to cuff 10"
I used [Alexis Winslow's Ladderback Jaqcuard video.
My Ariana Cardigan by Amy Christoffers is moving along! I started out following the pattern for the first 3 tiers of assembly but then discovered Jamiek3's Ariana and her diagrams.
I won't be able follow all of her diagrams though because I will be modifying mine to eliminate the batwing part of the pattern.
Looks like I have all of my ends woven in already but I haven't! They are just all tucked underneath.
This is where I am now...
Here it is folded so you can see the progress better! I love the colours andd the yarn that I chose! I ussedd Stolen Stitches Nua Worsted, is a blend of merino, yak, and linen. Nua is non-superwash, which creates a lighter yarn with a bit more bounce, making blocking easier and helping projects (especially garments) to hold their shape nicely.
KNIT GROUP AND GALLERY
Debbie (@love.knit.spin.weave) finished her Stella Jacket by Sidsel J. Høivik, her second finished project designed by this designer!
She modified the pattern to knit her button bands and neck bandss instead of crocheting them although she did 1 row of single crochet on inside neck and button bands with dark brown. On neck and button bands, sleeves, body border I did slip stitch crochet in dark pink then 1 row reverse single crochet in light pink.
