We are excited to be participating in the second annual Local Yarn Store Day! Local Yarn Store Day - a brick-and-mortar yarn shop appreciation day created to show support for small businesses while bringing together a unique community of knitters, crocheters, weavers and spinners to drive awareness and celebrate the craft. Come celebrate with us from 10-6 tomorrow - Saturday, April 27th!

We will have goodies, coffee and tea...Remember last year when the cake Ed got for us to serve said "Happy Birthday" on it? Well I will be sending him to get one again and I know that since we again forgot to pre-order it, so will once again say Happy Birthday? There will also be a few draws throughout the day!

Casapinka has once again very generously designed a pattern for LYS Day! Thank you for supporting us!  Her Magical Thinking was designed for the 2019 LYS Day, April 27. The pattern is free with the purchase of yarn at a participating yarn store (a list of stores is here) you will receive a coupon code from the store for the pattern, good for LYS weekend!

“Magical Thinking” is a pullover shawl that is seamless, made in the round from the top, down. IT IS NOT A PONCHO! This is an important point as I have a teenaged daughter and cannot cause her social annihilation by designing a poncho, so please follow this rule of nomenclature. It is the size of “All Points South.” It comes in two sizes fits everyone, ruching up more for those who are bustier.

3 skeins of fingering weight yarn, 400 yards each (for both sizes) is required and 3.25 (US 3) and 3.5 mm (US 4) needles for a gauge of 25 stitches = 4 inches in stockinette stitch in the round.

For LYS Day 2019, we have kits from Ancient Arts that include a full skein of the limited edition colourway The Bees Knees and a copy of the Orenburg Shawl by Caroline Sommerfield!

They even packaged the kits up in these little boxes!

The Bees Knees knits up into a gorgeous summer shawl, don't you think? The colourway will not be available except from these kits until after July 2019.

Our special Koigu LYS Day colour is the Great Lakes colourway in a speckle, inspired by a mix of the colours of the water and the stunning aspects of fall.

WIP's and FO's

Here is my rescued Rainier WIP! I had to frog back a big chunk of the body - it was huge, way too big to turn into my planned dress so I have turned it back into a boxy style! Whew!

I almost frogged the whole thing but I do love this design! Can't wait to work on the yoke!

KNIT GROUP AND GALLERY

The current Knit-Alongs are the Knit Your Any Sweater KAL and the Knit Any Shawl KAL: As always there is also an everlasting knit-along to encourage and support you to knit your own project (any project, and join in anytime!) from January to April 30, 2019. Don't forget to post a pic to the FO's Any Sweater/Shawl KAL - January to April 2019 thread or FO's Any Project KAL January 1 to April 30, 2019 thread whenever you finish a project during the Knit-Along so that you will be included in the next draw! Hurry and post because April 30th is coming up fast!

Lucie’s Itusi that she is knitting as a sample for me is an awesome testament to her strength and tenacity as a stroke survivor who is knitting again!!! And knitting a complicated and intricate unboring shawl too! Knitting once came easily but she had to learn a new way to hold her needles and how to deal with her fine motor skills. In her words, "every day I learn something new, reach a new goal, accomplish something I was told I won't be able to 15 months ago. And every single day I set new goals and reach a little higher, because there's no better feeling, then laying in bed, saying your thank yous for the day and realising that once again you have managed to totally kick ass and prove everyone wrong." You go girl Lucie!!

Debbie loves her “Sally’s Favorite Summer Sweater” from Sally Melville’s The Knitting Experience: Book One: The Knit Stitch

Sandi finished this for her niece - Hermione - a free pattern from the Berroco Design Team for Berroco Remix. She used a double strand of Remix Light but now I do have this colour in Remix now!
