Thursday night Knit Night and then the big loud boom! It sure felt like the floor shook and of course, we all looked at each other and..."What was that???"
Definitely the highlight of our evening! Sandi automatically texted Chris to if he felt it and if he knew anything. Ed went outside and reported that everyone had gone outside to see if anyone knew what had happened! What a night for sure!
Lise was showing me what new baby knits she will be knitting, I remembered this gem of a pattern! Isn't it the sweetest little jacket for a baby girl? I have had it favourited for ages but of course, I have no granddaughters:) The pattern is Charlee Baby Girl Jacket/Coat by Lotta Arnlund.
Even the back detail is beautiful! It requires DK weight yarn for a gauge of 22 stitches = 4 inches using 3.5 mm (US 4) needles. The crocheted edges are worked using a lighter fingering/sport weight for a delicate look. Knit it with Bergere de France Ideal and Drops Alpaca for the crochet edging.
Pictured is frogdog’s Nakia’s Infinity Scarf (hand knit version) an oversized wrap scarf created from 4 different yarns and a variety of textural stitches, ends grafted to form an infinity Meobius loop. Originally Libby brought this to my attention about a month ago but at that time the pattern was written for machine knitters! The new hand knit version was recharted and written out for hand knitting by Quecksilvereyes and she has been credited as Contributing Editor for this version of the pattern.
Pictured above is jeffgillies machine knit version of Nakia's Infinity Shawl (in Marvel’s Black Panther) by Jeff Gillies for machine knitting. The gauge in stockinette is 14 stitches and 18 rows = 4” using 4.0 mm (US 6) and 5.0 mm (US 8) needles. Noro Silk Garden is knit single strand while the other three suggested yarns are knit held double. The finished scarf measurements are 23" by 86" laid flat before grafting the ends together.

COME JOIN US!
There will be cake (I sent Ed to pick one up and oh well but he picked one up that says "Happy Birthday" lol), coffee and tea starting at 10am. Kathy will be demonstrating weaving on a rigid heddle loom some time during the day. Try it out!
The Local Yarn Shawl specifically designed by Casapinka for LYS Day will be available for free with yarn purchase.
The small shawl needs 560 yards of fingering yarn...The large shawl needs 2 skeins of fingering weight yarn of at least 360 yards each - a solid/tonal and a speckled/variegated.
Laura Nelkin created an exclusive LYS Day pattern Adventura featuring Kelbourne Woolens Andorra - available only in brick and mortar shops through Ravelry in-store sales! The pattern will be $1 with any purchase but Andorra is also available. Adventura is a choose your own shawl adventure: All three versions of Adventura start the same - with a neutral color knitting up a simple boomerang shape. You then work a few transition garter rows, and it is time to begin your journey! There is a skill level for everyone, from the most basic beginner knitter to a knitter craving more of a challenge!
Check out Pom Pom Quarterly’s special LYS Day promotion! You will receive a Ravelry Code to download an out-of-print PPQ with the purchase of any Pom Pom Press title!
