This Canada Day long weekend promises to be very hot and humid...a good time to laze around and do some knitting in the cool air conditioned (??) comfort of home!

My newest grandson Caleb Carter came earlier than scheduled! He was supposed to be delivered by c-section today but he made his appearance early on Monday, June 25th at 5:28 pm! Mom, baby, big brother Landon and my son Jordan are doing well.

We won't be going to visit this weekend though... We will have company this weekend...Ed's sister and brother-in-law are coming to visit! I have Oliver, the rabbit I knit to bring him!

Sometimes you want to knit that isn't for now but for the cooler weather during the summer and to knit your summer things during the fall or winter. Here is a little something for the little ones that you can knit up!

The Cabled Knit Cardigan by Patons is a timeless twist on the hoodie, this cardigan features a unique cable twist, with optional embroidery for the girl's version. Knit it with a worsted weight yarn for a gauge of 19 stitches and 36 rows = 4 inches in Garter Stitch with larger needle. 4.0 mm (US 6) and 4.4 mm (US 7) needles, a cable needle, stitch markers, safety pins and buttons are needed. Knit it using Bergere de France Baltic, Malabrigo Rios, SweetGeorgia Superwash Worsted, Cascade 220 Heathers to name a few.

The Gibson by Angela Hahn is worked top down, with 3/4-length sleeves where the band/collar is worked from stitches picked up along the front and neck edges. It uses a worsted weight cotton/linen yarn. The body is worked straight, without waist shaping, so it is easily lengthened or shortened (just remember to buy extra yarn for a longer version). The lace-patterned sleeves, worked in the round, add interest to the simple silhouette; the every-other-row raglan increases are worked seamlessly into the lace.

The main lace pattern and sleeve raglan increases are given in chart form only. Use 4.5 mm (US 7) needles for a gauge of 19 stitches and 26 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch.

My Sunshine Coast by Heidi Kirrmaier is off my needles! Nice and light, cool and soft..I knit mine using Berroco Remix Light in Birch. A nice neutral basic tee to add to my wardrobe!

KNIT GROUP AND GALLERY

The current Knit-Along is an Any Project Knit-Along! Knit Your Any Project KAL: An everlasting knit-along to encourage and support you to knit your own project (any project, and join in anytime!), from April 1 to June 30, 2018 - this is tomorrow so post, post, post tonight! A few like Liz still have trouble so don't hesitate to ask me to post for you (until you learn how lol) Join in - the next draw will take place July 1, 2018! You don't have to come to a Knit Afternoon or Knit Night to be included in the draw but you do need to post your finished projects to the Group Finished Objects thread on Ravelry.

We will be starting the Swirl Skirt (by AnnaLena Mattison) KAL on July 1st. It will run until September 15th. At the same time we will as usual have the Any-Project KAL!

I have knit two Swirl Skirts before! Pictured is the second Swirl Skirt that I knit.

June’s little Girl and Boy Lambs that she knit for her two great-grandchildren! The Boy Lamb she knit when she took the Lamb Class last winter using the Girl Lamb pattern. The extra clothing pieces are from Knit Me, Dress Me, Love Me book by Sue Stafford.
