Free Pattern Fridays - Friday, May 25, 2018, Issue 55: It is the Memorial Day Long Weekend for our American neighbours!

Summer knitting anyone?? I think Spring has completely bypassed us because we have definitely jumped right in to summer! The featured photo above is romychen's Ibis.

Top 08 Chic 89 by Fil Katia

Top 08 Chic 89 by Fil Katia is a sleeveless tank that is worked in pieces and seamed. It includes stockinette, reverse stockinette, 2 x 2 ribbing and eyelet to create a cool, stylish a-line summery top knit using a dk weight yarn. The gauge is 22.5 stitches and 30 rows = 4 inches in eyelet stitch using 3.5 mm (US 4) needles. romychen's Ibis - refer to her project for her detailed re-write of the pattern which is confusing.

This would look lovely knit using El. D. Mouzakis Butterfly Super 10 or Rowan's Creative Linen.

Summer Tee Top by Claudia Olsen

The Summer Tee Top by Claudia Olsen is a pattern that I have used before! It is a very easy and pretty pattern that knits up quickly. While it is written for one size, you can add or subtract 14 sts to change bust size. This top needs about 650 - 700 yards of DK weight yarn for a size 34-36 inch bust with a gauge of 5.3 stitches = 1 inch in pattern using 4.0 mm (US 6) needles.

Sue2Knits Summer Tee Top

Pictured above is my Melon Summer Tee that I knit a few years ago and still wear! It is one that I would love to knit again using either Debbie Bliss Cotton Denim DK or Rowan Original Denim although I would need to add 15% to all lengths to account for shrinkage.

WIP's and FO's

Sue2Knits Morning Sky WIP

I worked exclusively on my Morning Sky by Heidi Kirrmaier again this week which considering all of the stitches on my needles for the yoke made it move faster than it would have otherwise! There was 552 stitches for the widest part of the bear track pattern of my yoke.

Sue2Knits Morning Sky by Heidi Kirrmaier WIP - very close to finished!!

I can't believe the difference in how the colour looks between these two photos but the actual colour is closer to the bottom one. I really am getting close to the final stretch though with 3 more decrease sections and then the short rows at the back of the neck.

WORLD WIDE KNIT IN PUBLIC DAY 2018

World Wide Knit in Public Day was started in 2005 by Danielle Landes. It began as a way for knitters to come together and enjoy each other’s company. Knitting is such a solitary act that it’s easy to knit alone somewhere and sink into your work without thinking about all the other knitters out there. Neighbors could spend all their lives never knowing that the other knits. This a specific day to get out of your house and go to a local event (with your knitting in tow) just for you and people like you. Who knows you might even bump into your neighbor! Consider this a spark, to ignite a fire; getting all of the closeted knitters out into fresh air.
