Free Pattern Fridays - Get Ready for Summer!

As the warmer weather hits, many set down their needles to work in their gardens, go camping or the beach or a myriad of summer activities! I think you can work on your projects anywhere - knit at the beach, on your patio, by the pool because I personally cannot imagine idle hands so I still knit during the summer months and I love summer tops - lacy or plain, tank top style, tee shirt style...

Corinne by Crystal Erb Junkins

Corinne by Crystal Erb Junkins is a cardigan knit all in one piece, from the left side to the right, with almost no seaming. The yoke and body are shaped with short rows, and the garter stitch throughout keeps the design simple but sophisticated.

Purl Soho's Silken Straw Summer Sweater

Purl Soho's Silken Straw Summer Sweater is "designed to cover you in just a whisper of silk. A slip of a sweater, its beauty is its understated grace and quiet confidence. Team it up with a camisole for dinner and a movie, or throw it over your bathing suit for a sea glass hunt. So simple to knit and so easy to wear, it’s just like summer itself!" Knit it in Shibui Reed as in Knitpiki's beow (Reed replaces Shibui's discontinued Linen) or Hikoo Cobasi, a cotton, bamboo and silk blend with elastic nylon for a gentle on the hands wool-like stretch. Blinker03's Silken Straw Summer Sweater is the cover shot that I have used:)

Knitpiki's All Linen Summer Sweater

On a last note, this one was suggested by Nadine as a summer knit-along project and while not a free pattern is no less spectacular!

Summer in Provence

Summer in Provence by Tabetha Hedrick "A simply sweet tee - This lovely pullover, worked in only two pieces, is the epitome of spring: lightly textural and delectably soft. Dressed up for tea or relaxed with jeans, the sweet bit of lace adds just the right amount of delight in a garment that has beautiful shape and definition." This pullover is worked flat in two pieces and then seamed with the stitch pattern both written and charted for your preference.

Happy Knitting!
