Friday, April 21, 2023, Issue 293: Happy Friday!!

Today has been grey, overcast and a bit wet out. The grass and trees are quickly turning green and starting to bloom. It's the perfect time to start our spring and summer knits!

If you have knit yourself Sommerknus by Elsebeth Judith like I did (shown below), she has just released a light version.

My Sommerknus by Elsebeth Judith is off my needles!

Sommerknus is a round yoke sweater worked from the top down with an all-over textured pattern. It has a gauge of 18 stitches and 24 rows = 4 inches in Stockinette stitch. I used Sandnes Garn Line for my Sommerknus.

Knus Light by Elsebeth Judith is a thinner version of Sommerknus / Knus worked with fingering weight yarn.

Joni by Natasja Hornby is shown here with the test knit by Dina of The Knitting Place in New York.

Joni by Natasja Hornby is shown here with the test knit by Dina of The Knitting Place in New York. Joni is a modern interpretation of the quintessential vintage lace blouse. She’s playful and stylish, and easy to dress up or down. She will look just as good with tattered old jeans as with a summer skirt, and take you from day to night all summer long.

Joni is the perfect summer knit. There’s enough soothing stockinette to let your mind wander, but the lovely details (that lace panel!, the rounded hem!) ensure a fun and engaging knitting journey.

Sizes
1 (2, 3, 4) {5, 6, 7, 8}
Finished bust measurements
85 (94.5, 105.5, 115) {125, 136, 145.5, 155} cm / 33.5 (37.25, 41.5, 45.25) {49.25, 53.5, 57.25, 61}”.

The top is designed to have a neat, but comfortable fit, with approx 5 - 7.5 cm / 2 - 3” of positive ease around the bust.
Sample is shown in size 2, with body shaping, and 5 cm / 2” of positive ease.

Yarn
For a fresh summer feeling, a heavy fingering / sports weight plant based yarn like a linen (blend) or cotton (blend) is recommended.

Approx 625 (675, 750, 800) {875, 925, 1000, 1075} m / 685 (740, 820, 875) {955, 1010, 1090, 1175} yards.

Sample shown in Schoppel-Wolle El Linio, 100% linen, 150 meters / 164 yards per 50 g. Natasja used colour 990 and Dina used colour 1432

FOs and WIPs

I finished my last WIP (my Northerly by Caitlin Hunter) last week except for weaving in the ends and blocking it. During our Tuesday Knit Afternoon, I didn't get many ends woven in but I managed to finish sewing them all in and blocking it after everyone left.

On Saturday, Pam came in to get another cake of Edition 3 for her Northerly!

Bogota is a cardigan that suits every mood, from the early sun of spring to the end of the indian summer.
It’s a comfortable and fluid garment thanks to a generous positive ease (37 cm / 14.8’’).
