This has been a wonderful summer this year for finished summer tees and knit-alongs! Everyone has been inspiring each other to knit, knit, knit and even though we haven't been able to knit together in person, we have been knitting together apart!
Heidi finished her Rock It Tee by Tanis Lavallee and the colours that she chose are great together! I have lost track of how many of us knit it but when we can be together again, it would be amazing if we can get some group shots of the many sweaters that we have knit together!
Here is Heidi’s Ranunculus by Midori Hirose blocking! She knit it longer and knit short sleeves with ribbing instead of i-cord.
Heidi cast on her Ranunculus and finished it in a week but only knit on five of those days so it is a quick knit! I love the beautiful colour and it looks beautiful on her! Ranunculus is another of the patterns that is being knit by our group as summer tees using fingering weight yarn and big needles!
Jen finished and blocked her Ranunculus too! She knit hers using Ancient Arts Passion 8 in Bien! She also knit one for her mom using Lichen and Lace 80/20 Sock in Faded Rose which is almost finished!
Joji Locatelli’s Fall KAL 2020 kicks off September 1st but if you want to join in, you need to sign up before August 30th! I’m joining in, are you? Jen, Heidi and Linda have all signed up to knit several of Joji's patterns. You must sign up your projects using this form to officially participate in the KAL.
Susurrus by Joji Locatelli is what I plan to knit for the Joji Fall KAL 2020. Connie (knitnut246) is also planning to knit it! Susurrus is knit seamlessly from the top down with a circular yoke.
Both Connie and I plan to knit ours with Manos Fino in Rosewater and Havisham and Manos Cabrito in Primrose, the original colours that Joji used!
Manos Fino in Watered Silk and Storm Glass and Lichen and Lace Marsh Mohair in Beach Glass was the other combination that I condidered.
Virginia - Joji Locatelli’s mother knit her Susurrus with the same yarn as Joji and the yarn from the pattern too and it looks fabulous on her! Pink though is one of my favourite colours so it really swayed my choice!
The other pattern that I have signed up to make is Ashes which I purchased last summer when the pattern came out! Linda )lmcnorton) is planning to knit this one too and has chosen her yarn but I have not yet decided what I will use.
WIP's and FO's
My current WIP is PetiteKnit’s Anker’s Summer Shirt! I am knitting it with LoftyFiber Euroflax Sport (previously Louet Euroflax) in Soft Coral! Anker’s Summer Shirt is worked from the top down. The yoke is worked in sections of rib with increases in the round, followed by classic raglan increases when the stockinette stitch section begins. The sleeves are worked at the end with weaving in the ends the only finishing needed.
The last clue for the Nice to Gnome You pattern for Sarah Schira's Gnome MKAL 2020 was August 19th! What do you think of my finished Gnicki? My first gnome kal was a fun knit using an Ancient Arts Gnome Kit!
My Gnicki is adventurous and a bit of a daredevil!
KNIT GROUP AND GALLERY
The current Knit-Alongs are the Any Sweater / Shawl KAL and the Knit Your Project: the everlasting knit-along to encourage and support you to knit is running from July 1 to September 30, 2020. Post you finished projects to the Sue2Knits and Yarn Ravelry Group to the Finished Objects thread or to Instagram using the hashtag #sue2knitskal to be included in the next quarterly draw.
Here is Linda’s Gnicki Sixx! She even knit a Teeny Tiny Knitted Toy by Little Cotton Rabbits for her Gnicki Sixx...Can you see it?
Here is Sandi (sandima)’s Gnova! She knit her kangaroo pocket a different colour.
My sister’s Derecho by Alison Green knit using Berroco Remix Light looks amazing! A perennial favorite, Derecho is a simple but flattering top town tee.
The other summer tee my sister Mary knit is this Summertime Lace Tank by Cheryl Beckerich, avaialble free. Yarn is Rowan Creative Linen in Mustard.
Paulette (@psknitting50) finished her second Tegna by Caitlin Hunter! Yarn is Bergere de France Bigarelle.
Angela finished two sweaters but they are not summer tees! She knit the Lunenburg Pullover by Amy Christoffers using Lichen and Lace Rustic Heather Sport.
Angela also finished Arctic Cathedral by Natalie V using Rowan Felted Tweed in Ginger.
Connie (knitnut246) knit these socks with Timber Yarns Twin Socks, colour is Kyra!
Patti (@patnelann) finished a pair of pretty socks! Pattern is Coffee Talk by Tracie Millar.
Veronica (@xovee.knits) learned a new skill so she used it to knit this top-down baby jumpsuit using the measurements from one of her son’s onesies!
