This has definitely been the hottest summer...Do you have summer knits on your needles or have you started your cool weather fall knitting? Are you making shawls or summer tees?

Rita just finished another test knit! This one is Paula Wiśniewska's Nectar Shawl which should be published on August 10th! Paula's Ravelry store is Polka Knits Ravelry Store.

Caitlin Hunter’s newest pattern below is Misurina! All her designs in her Knitaly series are 30% off with the code KNITALY until the end of August. This top down yoke sweater features lace, cables and colorwork for a trifecta of knitting techniques! My sample is knit in Cosy Posy Yarn Co’s Feather- a merino linen singles blend that gives this design a lovely drape and softness. The loose gauge and relaxed fit are both flattering and comfortable to wear. The body length is easily adjusted to suit your preference. You can choose from a purl dot pattern or an eyelet pattern for the body. 

Caitlin recommends that you swatch both the colorwork and the dots pattern as you may need to change needle sizes to maintain an even gauge. You should always knit your swatch the same way that the pattern is knit —in this case, in the round. Block your swatch as you will your finished garment and allow it to dry fully before measuring.

The gauge is 20 sts and 24 rounds over 4” 10 cm in colorwork / cable pattern, and body pattern (purl dots or eyelets) after blocking with main needle of 3.5 mm (US 4) or as required to get gauge. 2.75 mm (US 2) needles are used for ribbing.

Knit yours with Garnstudio Drops Flora, Madelinetosh Tosh Merino Light, Malabrigo Sock, Navia Bummull or any fingering weight or sport weight yarn.

The COVID-19 Blanket will be made up of more than 8,000 squares, all 12 inches by 12 inches. Each square will represent one life lost. As part of this project, they will also be making individual sized blankets for a variety of agencies throughout Canada. These squares can be knit or crocheted, and can use any washable worsted weight yarn. These are perfect for those who would prefer to use up some stash yarn.

The COVID-19 Memorial Blanket project was brought to my attention by a woman named Angela who then emailed me a copy of the CBC News article. The yarn to be used for the squares in the memorial blanket is Berroco Vintage which is I ordered and is now available in the shop. The Blanket Pattern can be found HERE. There is a new group on Ravelry called covid-19 memorial blanket that you can join too. You can also find an FAQs thread where you can find answers to most questions.

WIP's and FO's

My V-Back Tee by Jamie Hoffman is finished and blocked...

I tried it on several times while I was knitting it but I have decided I am going to frog the ribbing and add a few more inches! The after blocking measurement just wasn't as much as I thought it would be so I guess that is what I will be doing this weekend.

I started swatching for Anker’s Summer Shirt by PetiteKnit! I am going to knit mine using LoftyFibre Euroflax Sport (formerly Louet Euroflax Sport) in Soft Coral. I started with 3.75 mm (US 5) but gauge was 16 stitches to 4” so I am now using 3.25 mm (US 3)! Looks good so far...a few inches more to knit before I throw it into the washer and dryer.

I am going to use Ancient Arts Fireside Gnome Kit for the Nice to Gnome You Mystery Knit Along! The first clue dropped yesterday (August 6th)!

I caked my four mini skeins last night and finished clue 1. Sorry I am not going post it here...

KNIT GROUP AND GALLERY

The current Knit-Alongs are the Any Sweater / Shawl KAL and the Knit Your Project: the everlasting knit-along to encourage and support you to knit is running from July 1 to September 30, 2020. Post you finished projects to the Sue2Knits and Yarn Ravelry Group to the Finished Objects thread or to Instagram using the hashtag #sue2knitskal to be included in the next quarterly draw.

Linda finished her second Butterfly / Papillon by Marin Melchior (@marinjaknits)! Isn’t it gorgeous?

Liz finished Storm Shawl by Joji Locatelli! She knit it using Rhichard Devrieze fingering yarn, colour Hoarding Woods (which I don't carry - Koigu KPPPM is the alternative).

Paulette (@pskitting50) purchased a denim pencil skirt, knit five lace panels in Malabrigo Sock in Baco and inserted them to create a boho look! What creativity!

My sister Mary finished a sock monkey Gramps by @tincanknits and a sock monkey version of Monkey Jacobus by Annita Wilschut using Bergere de France Jaspee. The cardigan just needs the buttons sewn on. Note that all Bergere de France yarn except for Ideal and Bigarelle are on Clearance at 40% off. There is very little Jaspee left in the sock monkey colours but you can also use Estelle Worsted or Navia Faroese Sock.

Nadine finished a bunch of warm and wooly tuques!!

Sandi (sandima) found enough Jamieson & Smith 2 Ply Jumper Weight in her stash to knit Katie’s Kep by Wilma Malcomson (free Ravelry download from Shetland Wool Week website until next year’s pattern comes out).

Anna (@kollar.annie) finished these intricate Dolores socks by Sari Nordlund! The Dolores socks are the second design in her Summer Sock KAL. The Dolores socks are discounted at -25% for the duration of the KAL - until August 31st (midnight Helsinki time) with the code SUMMERSOCKKAL.

Mirna finished two pairs of socks recently! She knit the left pair using Arne & Carlos Pairfect Star Night and the other is Regia 4 Ply Tutti Frutti in Apple!

Connie (maltesecross) has only to weave in the ends and then block her Brookgreen Cardi by Laura Aylor! She is casting on Easterly for Laura’s August-October Fall Sweater KAL!

VIRTUAL SOCIAL KNITTING
