Today was bright and sunny but it is cold out! I for one am happy we didn't get too much snow but it is the perfect weather for digging out that work in progress or starting something new.
Debbie finished her Oraefi by G. Dagbjort Guamundsdottir, the perfect cozy knit sweater! It is knit in the round from the lower edge to the underarms where the body and sleeves are joined to work the yoke in the round. Round begins at left side of body. On yoke, round begins on the left side of back at the joining of body and sleeve. The garment is shaped at the waist and the body is made longer on the back side than the front side before the yoke is knitted.
Debbie knit hers using the suggested Istex Lettlopi and her Oraefi Kit from the shop. The Oraefi pattern is available on Ravelry as a download as well as in Lopi Book 36.
I am not sure who ran the KAL above but I love that this group all knit an Oraefi, and managed to get together for a group shot! My sister and I, Jocelyne, Lucie, Darlene, Teri and many more have knit it...Maybe one day we can get a group shot too!

Winter Roses by Hannah Mann is available as a free Ravelry download that includes several variations including this full length version. It has a laid-back sweatshirt feel with a fun tri-colour motif, this ultra-cozy sweater is knit in the round—from the top-down—so you can try it on as you go! The circular yoke and body are embellished with bands of bold colourwork and textural garter stitch ridges.
One option included in Winter Roses is this cropped length.

FOs and WIPs
On Monday, I took this photo of my Solid Stitch Lines Socks by La Maison de Saba which I started back in October and then frogged and cast on again on january 17th. Much better now that I am using the 2.0 mm needles that I always use for my socks to get the gauge I like because I am a loose knitter.
This morning I finished the first sock!
Here’s a progress shot of my Drawing Sweater by Tomomi Yoshimoto on Tuesday. I used the tubular cast on method which utilizes Judy’s Magic Cast On and Magic Loop that Purlificknitter says is her favourite tubular cast on. I totally agree now that I have used it!
On Wednesday, I took this photo. I tried to use KnitCompanion but I decided that it is much easier to flip the 4 chart pages for my size, marking off each row as I finished them than it was to try to zoom in on my iPad.
KNIT GROUP AND GALLERY
Mirna came to the Saturday morning class wearing this sweater by Kim Hargreaves and the Heart Warmer Cowl by Justyna Lorkowska, both knit using the same Garnstudio Drops Kid Silk colour so that she can wear them together or separately.
Ingrid came to Saturday’s class wearing her Felix by Amy Christoffers knit using Cascade 220 Heathers in Lavender Heather.
Kathy came to Saturday’s classes wearing the Diggery Venn by Isabell Kraemer that she knit as her sample for a previous planned class.
Jane finished her Rock It Tee by Tanis Lavallee knit using Schoppel Wolle Zauberball Crazy. She knit her sleeves a little longer and added ribbing to the sleeves and hem.
Connie surprised us with her first visit since she broke her left wrist in November. She is wearing her Celosias by Jennifer Steingass that she knit using Rowan Cotton Cashmere and her Linen Scarf by Sandra Florio knit using Koigu KPPPM.
Connie (knitnut246) also brought both of her finished Sophie Scarves by PetiteKnit. The newest one she knit using the leftover yarn from her Susurrus by Joji that she knit using Manos Fino and Manos Cabrito. Her first Sophie (the dark one) is knit using Shibui Echo.
Angela (KnittinGrapeVines) finished her Aise II by Espace Tricot, knit using Garnstudio Drops Kid Silk held double with Malabrigo Silkpaca.
Amy finished the Laurelie shawl by Lisa Hannes that she knit for her mom. Yarn is Madelinetosh Tosh Merino Light.

Jocelyne (Jocblais) knit her Ovis Mitts by thepetiteknitter using Istex Einband in Almond Heather and White and Garnstudio Drops Kid Silk. She has enough yarn that she plans to knit a pair of the matching Ovis Socks in the opposite colours.
Paulette (@psknitting50) finished another hat from Milarrochy Heids from Kate Davies Designs. This one is Tettegouche by Virginia Sattler-Reimer.
CLASSES - WINTER 2023
Gentle reminder for you to take another look at out Classes and a few changes to dates and additiions.
Our introductory Weaving Workshop needs just two more! You will learn how to warp a rigid heddle loom and weaving your first scarf!
No experience is necessary and we supply the loom for you to use and the warp and weft yarn.
Our Colourwork and Steeking Class where we knit Kate Davies Sheep Carousel has been changed to Wednesdays, March 8, 22 and 29 – 1 to 3 pm and includes extra knitting time between classes. Our Heart Warmer Cowl Knit Sampler Class starts February 11th. We need at least 2 more for this class.
Make a bunny for Easter like the one Julie Williams of Little Cotton Rabbits knit above. The Girl or Boy Bunny Class has been put into the Saturday morning slot starting February 11th. This class finishes before Easter!
By request, a Gramps by tincanknits First Cardigan Class has been added starting Saturday, April 1 from 10 to noon.
