Friday, June 3, 2022, Issue 250: Happy Friday!!

I am not sure whether we are in for a scorching hot weather this weekend or whether we get a mixed bag but I am going to try to sit and knit out in the gazebo!

It is summer but a great cardigan is always a must!

Elah by Isabell Kraemer is a cosy cardigan, nicely thick, so that it can easily be layered as a jacket, but with its delicate leafy lace pattern it goes just as well with a summer dress.

Elah is worked seamlessly from the top down. Fronts are worked in lace pattern, while the back is worked in Stockinette stitch. Knitting starts with the provisional cast on of the shoulders for the fronts (you will first work the right front, then the left front). Once the short row shaped shoulder slope is done, the front is worked flat to underarm. Shoulder stitches are picked up from the provisional CO of both front shoulders to work the back to the same length. At underarm both fronts and back are joined to work the body top down back and forth to the bottom hem. As the front ribbing is built in, there is no finishing required. Sleeve stitches are picked up around the arm openings to work the sleeves in Stockinette stitch top down in rounds to the cuffs.

Elah by Isabell Kraemer is a cozy cardigan with a delicate leafy pattern on the fronts.

Why Knot? by Rachel Illsley is a drapey tee featuring lateral braids, dropped stitch textures and seed stitch patterns combined to create an airy addition to your warmer weather wardrobe.

Why Knot? by Rachel Illsley is a drapey tee featuring lateral braids, dropped stitch textures and seed stitch patterns combined to create an airy addition to your warmer weather wardrobe.

This garment is worked top-down, in the round. Open textures are created throughout most of the yoke using Lateral Braids, yarn overs, dropped stitches and a seed stitch pattern. Once the yoke is completed, stitches are separated into body and sleeves, both of which are also worked top-down, in the round. The body starts by working short row shaping into the back of the tee, with the short row turns hidden along the underarm cast on stitches. The body is worked in stockinette, with a textured waistband that follows the same patterns as the yoke. The sleeves are short and worked in the same style as the body: stockinette followed by a textured knit cuff.

Sample:
The wearer is 5’10” / 178cm with a 37” / 92.5cm chest circumference. The sample has been worked in size L, giving the wearer 8.75” / 22cm of positive ease at the chest.

Sizing Guide:
This garment is graded into sizes XS (S, M, L, XL) (2XL, 3XL, 4XL, 5XL). Recommended positive ease is 4-10” / 10-25cm at the chest circumference.
Finished Garment Chest Circumference: 34.25 (38.25, 41.75, 45.75, 50) (54.25, 57.5, 61.75, 65)“ / 85.5 (96, 104, 114.5, 125) (135.5, 144, 154, 162.5) cm.

Gauge:
Using 4mm / US size 6 needles, or needle size required to meet gauge, 24 stitches over 28 rounds in stockinette stitch, blocked, creates a 4x4”/10x10cm square.

Yarn: (includes ~10% excess) fingering weight
714 (769, 841, 899, 980) (1056, 1106, 1212, 1260) metres
