Enjoy the Canada Day weekend! It is hot, humid and it looks like it might storm...Are you planning to be out and about or will you stay inside where it was cool and knit?

I just love summer tops and tees! There are so many patterns to choose from!

Lufthul by Elsebeth Judith is a beautiful summery knit with a loose gauge and airy fabric. “Lufthul” is worked top-down in an eyelet pattern. It is important to follow the pattern instructions carefully so the eyelets will be correctly placed at the shoulders, the V-neck and after joining front and back stitches for working in the rounds.

The eyelets are not placed symmetrical but it’s possible to play with more or less stockinette stitches at the edges.

Sizes:
The sweater has a positive ease of approx 20cm/7.75”
The finished measurement around the bust is XS: 96cm/38” (S: 104cm/41”, M: 112cm/44”, L: 120cm/47.25”, XL: 128cm/50.25”, 2XL: 136cm/53.5”, 3XL: 144cm/56.75”)

Yarn:
800m/875y (950m/1040y, 1050m/1150y, 1150m/1260y, 1250m/1370y, 1300m/1421y, 1350m/1476y) of fingering weight yarn.

Gauge:
20 stitches and 28 rows = 4 inches in Air Hole pattern

Needles:
3.5 mm (US 4) and 4.0 mm (US 6) or as needed to get gauge

Suggested Yarn: West Yorkshire Spinners Exquisite 4 Ply or BC Garn Bio Balance

Kudzu by Laura Aylor kicked off her Christmas in July early with 50% off this pattern until midnight July 2 EDT. From July 3, it will be part of her annual Christmas in July.

Kudzu is a simple top-down tank with a pretty leaf lace pattern, A-line shaping and I-cord edges around the arms to minimize stretching.

There are so many striped tee patterns…Here is Dingley Dell by Isabell Kraemer! It was inspired by cricket sweaters of the 90s, Dingley Dell is worked seamlessly from the top down using the contiguous set-in sleeve method (developed by Susie Myers) to shape the shoulders and sleeve caps.

WIPs and FOs

I finished my Lemon Spritz by Marie Greene sample for the Olive Knits 4 Day KAL which kicks off TODAY! Have you cast on yours? If you want to knit yours with the yarn that I used, Lemon Spritz Kits are available in the shop! The three balls of Queensland Collection Dungarees Paint included is enough to knit up to a size 6! Of course, you are not limited to using the kit for the Lemon Spritz, you can use it for one of the sweaters above or whatever you choose but this one is a great summer tee!

The sleeves have a perpendicular garter edge and I love the sweet little leaf detail.

My Aallokko by Tiina Huhtaniemi for Tukuwool test is moving along. I admit I wondered if I should worry about the jog created by knitting colourwork in the round. I found Patty Lyons Jogless Fair Isle video from the HOW TO DO IT - 8:57 time stamp but decided that I am too far into my yoke and am very happy with it as it is.

I am using a 47 inch cable right now…I need to change to a 60 inch cable. Yarn is the test knit's requested Tukuwool DK.

I was going to sew my buttons on my Serkinet by Kate Davies that I am knitting for the #sue2knitskatedavieskal but Kate recommends waiting until after blocking so I started my sleeves.

I started with a 16 inch circular needle but I changed to using two 24 inch circulars instead with one needle for the 47 pattern stitches and one for the reverse stockinette stitches. I am tapering the sleeves by decreasing every 5th round by [p2tog, p1, sm, p1, p2tog] which means the first p2tog is actually on the round before but works well the way I have my needles.

I am using Tukuwool DK as well.
