I haven't been outside but with the sun shining, it is starting to look like we should be starting on warmer weather knits! On the other hand, I like to continue with cozy sweater weather knits a lot longer.

That 70s Throw by Knox Mountain Knit Co. is not your grandma’s afghan! This funky striped geometric throw, worked in simple mosaic colourwork, is a modern twist on the classic granny blanket. Use two contrasting colours throughout, or combine all your leftover yarns and use a different colour for each section. The possibilities are truly endless!

KIT YARN

Berroco Vintage DK

• 52% Acrylic, 40% Wool, 8% Nylon
• 290 yds (265 m) per 100 g (3.5 oz)
• 22 sts & 28 rows = 4" (10cm)
• 4 mm (US 6) needles
• 18 sc & 24 rows = 4" (10cm)
• 6(G) (US) / 4 mm
• Machine wash inside out in cold water, gentle cycle or Hand wash. Lay flat to dry.

SIZING/FINISHED MEASUREMENTS

Throw: 41” / 103cm wide by 54” / 135cm long

All measurements are approximate. Taken after blocking.

GAUGE/SUGGESTED NEEDLES

DK weight: 24 stitches and 36 rows over 4” / 10cm in pattern, with larger needles, after blocking.

A different gauge will affect finished measurements and yardage requirements.

Suggested needles for dk weight: 4.5mm (US 7), or size needed to obtain above listed gauge; AND 3.75mm (US 5), or two sizes smaller than size needed to obtain gauge.

Lowther is a versatile cardigan for all genders, designed by Lotta H Lothgren in either weight of The Fibre Co. Cumbria. In the above photo, they are both wearing a size 3 with hers knit in worsted and his knit in fingering.

Kit includes: 5 hanks of The Fibre Co. Cumbria in a vinyl project bag which is enough for sizes 1-3. Add more as needed.

It is knitted seamlessly from the top-down with short-row set-in sleeves and an elegant twisted stitch detail used on the shoulders, sleeves, back and front edges.

• 3.5mm (US 4) circular needle or double-pointed needles for working a small circumference in the round
• 1 pair 4.5mm (US 7) needles (or size to obtain gauge)
• 4.5mm (US 7) circular needle or double-pointed needles for working a small circumference in the round (or size to obtain gauge)
• 5 x 2 cm (0.75 in) buttons
• Waste yarn or stitch holders
• Stitch markers (removable)
• Darning needle

TENSION
Lowther Worsted - 19 sts and 26 rows to 10 cm (4 in) measured over st st after blocking using 4.5mm (US 7) needles.

WIPS and FOs

Off my needles is my Paloma by Espace Tricot knit holding Shibui Staccato double with Garnstudio Drops Kidsilk!

I am a loose knitter so for mine, I worked 22 rounds (3 inches) of twisted rib using 3.5 mm needles.

I knit the body using 4 mm needles to get gauge for 8 inches before working 14 rounds of twisted rib using 3.5 mm needles for the hem. The sleeves I knit 75 rounds before changing to 3.5 mm tips for 14 rounds of twisted ribbing starting with p1, k1tbl; repeat to last 3 stitches, p2tog, k1tbl so that the sleeve rib detail lines up.

On my needles is Love Note by tincanknits. This was my Galentine’s day cast on which started out as Austrina by Alllison Jane. I changed my mind and frogged Austrina and cast on Love Note instead. I am knitting it with The Fibre Co. Cirro!

This sweet little sweater knits up quickly from the top down. The yarn that I chose creates a fabric that is floaty, soft and light and it goes a long way...I am not finished my first skein!
