I can't believe that October is almost over with Halloween coming up quickly! Christmas is only 9 weeks away and it is going to be here before we know it...Have you started your gift knitting?

There are many, many KALs from a number of our favourite designers, some of which are already running! Joji Locatelli has her #jojifallkal2020 which many of us are doing; Stephen West has his Slipstravaganza MKAL 2020 which runs over four weeks in October; Helen Stewart has her Window One, Knitvent 2020 starting October 29, 2020; and many, many more!

Berroco has collaborated with Casapinka for her new Glamping Blanket which uses Berroco Vintage Chunky and is available by Drop Ship! The KAL will begin November 6!

The blanket is shown in Cat Size above but is also sized for Baby/Small Dog/Portly Cat coughcoughKitKat, Dog/Lap, and Sofa size. Vintage Chunky is the PERFECT blanket yarn, knits up quickly, easy to wash and is comfy for snuggling.

Yarn Amounts for color per size: Cat (Baby, Dog, Sofa)/100g per hank of Vintage Chunky Yarn.

For example: Sofa size will take 5 hanks/Color A, 4 hanks/Color B, 4 hanks/Color C and 3 hanks/Color D.

Update from Berroco: We know you have already been notified about the Casapinka Glamping Blanket KAL and we are currently filling orders at a hot pace. Stock of Vintage Chunky is quickly flying off shelves, so with that in mind we wanted to give you and your customers some alternative yarn options for the blanket.

The pink (6110) featured in Combo 1 is already backordered to the end of November. Please consider these alternate shades available in the beginning of Nov as a subsitution (FYI: these are new shades arriving to Berroco):

This photo is from the Covid-19 Memorial Blanket website. A few days ago, they posted this:  As October is starts to wind into November, we’ve had a few emails and questions about the deadline. We have decided to extend the deadline to the end of January, 2021.

If you have been working on squares for the blanket, please drop off your squares when you can. I will be shipping off finished squares at the end of November. As I get more, I will send another shipment.

For those who’ve been waiting for Berroco Vintage in Aquae to be available, we have lots in stock. This was the colour that was reserved to represent front line and essential workers.

Reminder that the deadline for the ADVENTure Gnome MKAL Kits from Ancient Arts Yarn Pre-Order is October 28, 2020. Note: The kits need to be paid for, please DO NOT choose Pay at Pickup.

WIP's and FO's

This week I didn't work on my Ashes by Joji Locatelli for the #jojifallkal2020. I think I only knit one more row!

It is sweater weather so I worked exclusively on my Koivua by Caitlin Hunter! I want to be able to wear this soon!

This week’s progress moved fairly quickly past the separation of the body and the sleeves.

Today it wasn’t a nice enough day to take a photo outside...Here is my Koivua now! I am about to start the textured section of the body and just finished my first skein of the main colour. I used The Fibre Company Arranmore Light in St Clair and Schoppel Wolle Zauberball Starke 6. I love the subtle, neutral colours of this one!

KNIT GROUP AND GALLERY

The current Knit-Alongs are the Any Sweater / Shawl KAL and the Knit Your Project: the everlasting knit-along to encourage and support you to knit is running from October 1 to December 31, 2020.

Don’t forget to post a pic to the finished object (FO) thread whenever you finish a project during the Knit-Along so that you will be included in the next draw! We will also add the option of posting your finished project to Instagram using the #sue2knitskal so that I can find them!

Jen knit herself a new pair of socks! These are Electric Slide by Melinda Measor.

Jen knit her cat another sweater! Again she used Mini Dachshund Piggy-Wiggy Dog Sweater by Valya Boutenko. Yarn is Schoppel Wolle Zauberball Starke 6.

Nancy finished this Covid-19 sweater and blocked it too! This one was finished before the one shown last week!

Sonia (@soniabknits) knit this simple but elegant Aiki Seeded Rib Scarf by Tara-Lynn Morrison @good_night_day. Yarn is Malabrigo Rasta.

After one of Angela’s fall walks, she was inspired to knit this Leaving Cowl by Maria Magnusson (Olsson). Yarn is Malabrigo Arroyo in Volcan.

Angela found in her stash a skein of Malabrigo Worsted in Red Java to knit a hat to go with her Leaving Cowl!

Anna (@kollar.annie) knit Collared Pixie by Trude but the hat was too small for her son’s head so she ripped back the hat section and bound off! He loves his new cowl!

VIRTUAL SOCIAL KNITTING

Virtual social knitting using the Zoom app! It has been a great way to knit together through social distancing!
