Wednesday, February 14, 2024, Issue 334: Happy Wednesday!!

Today is Valentine's Day and February 10th was Lunar New Year! This year is the year of the dragon! Happy Valentine's Day and Happy Chinese New Year! Are you knitting sweater weather garments or are you anticipating spring and planning your warm weather knits while you work on your wips?

Winter Artemide by Emma Fassio is a top-down sweater worked in the round with a lace pattern and a special yoke: at first you work on the shoulder increases (saddle shoulder) and then on the sleeve by creating a line that reminds a traditional sewn yoke.

 Winter Artemide by Emma Fassio

Elegant and modern, it’s perfect on a pair of pants or jeans, for a unique and customized look. It has boxy ease, but it can be easily modified for personal taste and physical proportions. A lace pattern decorates the shoulder line and the final part of the body, donating movements and drape.
I always suggest to try on the work in progress in order to make those customizations that will make the tee the perfect garment that you’ll love to wear.

I added that little bit of embroidery to finish my Gardener’s Prayer Hat by Yamagara.

I added that little bit of embroidery needed to finish my Gardener’s Prayer Hat by Yamagara. Initially I thought I might have to start over when I noticed how small it looked. I switched out my short 16 inch needles to a 400 inch needle and using the magic loop method. I tried it on and it fit!

Before adding the embroidery I blocked it. Before blocking the hat was 18 inches wide, the finished hat is 20.5 inches wide.

I have been working on other projects but I managed an hour on my Gardener’s Prayer mitt.

The Gardener’s Prayer hat and mitts are going to be a striking set when I am finished.

I cast on Summit by Åsa Buchta using Berroco Dash in 3853 Rockies

I cast on my Summit by Åsa Buchta shop sample last week using Berroco Dash in 3853 Rockies after receiving my Berroco shipment. Dash is a fluffy chainette yarn that is soft and light. It is painted with bright "dashes" of color throughout making this bulky weight yarn all squishy soft fun.

The cowl is worked from the bottom up featuring slight shaping and fun colorful bobbles knit whenever you reached a "dash". Here and there, I cut out the dashes with a 4 inch tail to add where they were needed and tied off. The lower edge of the cowl is wide enough so it can also be worn as a shrug.

Last night, I decided to cast on Cold Hearts Hat by Caitlin Hunter as my Galantine’s Day cast on!

SHOP UPDATE

Thread & Maple products will be arriving soon (maybe Friday??) in the shop!

Our second order of Thread & Maple products has arrived in the shop! Their Needle Binder is the knitting organizer of your dreams and can be customized to organize ALL your knitting needles and notions beautifully - and enjoy doing it! Explore our collection of needle and tool cases a.k.a. 'pages' to give everything a home. Use them as standalone organizers or bundle them into the Needle Binder, it's totally up to you!

The binder shell is the home base for your personal selection of 'pages', each thoughtfully designed to fit different needle types, from fixed circular, to DPNs or interchangeable needle sets. Pages can be added or removed by unclasping the snaps of the leather rings at the back of the binder. Keep all your needles together without sacrificing portability, as each page transforms into a neat standalone case to take on the go.

The binder comes in 2 sizes: regular to fit up to 4 pages and jumbo up to 7. The binder shell itself also offers ample storage with plenty of pockets for fixed circulars, DPNs, crochet hooks or specialty needles, all of which can be labelled using our coordinating leather needle size markers, available as optional add-ons. At the back, you will find a large zip compartment for notions, cords and other tools. Inside, there are two large inner panel pockets to keep your patterns or even additional needle storage by slipping in our Needle Holder Slip. The flap is magnetic for an easy, secure and satisfying snap closure.

Meticulously handcrafted from soft genuine leather, beauty and function are effortlessly intertwined in this heirloom piece. Each 'page' is its own standalone case, compact and perfect to pop into your project bag.

Each Needle Binder and page is lovingly handcrafted by a team of leather artisans in Ukraine.

I have set up Thread & Maple products to allow backorders. A few of the pages will only be available by pre-order.
