Wednesday, January 31, 2024, Issue 332: Happy Wednesday!!

It is the end of January and I want to see the end of this grey, dreary weather and to see some sunshine. Have you been staying indoors where it is warm and knitting.

Andrea Rangel says that being outside at all times of year is a must for her and finds herself grabbing those sweaters that are just a tiny bit slouchy, that fit easily over her button-up shirts, and offer that extra bit of coziness.

The Squish Cardigan by Andrea Rangel

The Squish Cardigan by Andrea Rangel is your archetypal cabled cardigan designed for layering both on fancy cold-weather occasions and just for everyday chores. Wear it under overalls in the garden or over linen for a coffee date.

You can make Milton cardigan as long as you want. Since the fabric is featherweight and delicate, she made hers longer.

Experiment with gauge to play with the size of Traveler Cowl by Andrea Mowry

Experiment with gauge to play with the size of Traveler Cowl by Andrea Mowry. Explore different colour possibilities, hold a couple strands of yarn together, or spin your own yarn! The stitch pattern lends itself beautifully to a relaxing knit, but its unique construction makes it fun to knit again and again! This cowl is worked flat on the bias, and then seamed. You begin by increasing on both edges, then only one, and finally decreasing on one edge to create this unique shape!

SIZES
Toddler (Youth, Adult Small, Adult Large)

By 10:30 Sunday night I had knit this much when I decided to double check the hat size. Gauge is 26 stitches which I got but I hadn't really looked at the hat circumference. it was looking rather small with a cast on of 120 stitches so I checked it against my Bonnie Isle Hat by Linda Shearer where I cast on 140 stitches. Quite a difference so I was understandably concerned. I tried it on and...to my relief it fits! If you are knitting this and you need a bigger hat than the 46 cm, add a repeat or 2 or use bigger needles for a bigger gauge.

The photos really don’t do justice to the actual colours

The photos really don’t do justice to the actual colours. I can't wait to add the embroidery to this hat and also plan to make the matching Gardener's Prayer Handwarmers.
