This has definitely been the hottest summer worldwide...Do you have summer knits on your needles or have you started your cool weather fall knitting??

I thought I'd be knitting summer projects but I'm working on my fall knitting!

Cascata by Filipa Carneiro is a tee top knit top-down and seamlessly that is free. Cascata means Waterfall in Portuguese and this top has lace sides going down the length of the top, just like a waterfall. The yoke is formed with yarn over increases, the sleeves are bound off and then the body is worked with the lace sides. It was designed to be knit with a DK weight linen yarn for a light, comfortable summer top. Use 3.0 mm (US 2.5) needles or as needed for a gauge of  24 stitches and 34 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch. Knit it with Hikoo Cobasi, Shibui Reed or Schoppel Wolle El Linio.

Savage Heart Cardigan by Amy Christoffers is not a free pattern but a pattern with an interesting construction. It is a grown Ladies version of the Cockleshell Cardigan from the Mason Dixon Knitting Field Guide No 6. The Savage Heart Cardigan is worked in 2 halves, sideways from sleeve cuff to center back. The center back is joined with a 3-Needle bind off. An applied I-cord edging is worked across the hem. The fit of this cardigan is intended to be very relaxed, choose a size 6-12” larger then your actual chest measurement. Though this is intended to be worn open at the front, buttons and options for button loops are included as well a note on the schematic page that includes instructions for adding length to the body. 

The back view of Amy Christoffers Savage Heart shows where the two halves have been joined. Use 4.0 (US 6) and 5.0 mm (US 8) needles or as required to get the gauge of 18 stitches and 24 rows = 4 inches in Reverse Stockinette stitch using the larger needles.

WIP's and FO's

Couldn’t resist casting on a Zweig by Caitlin Hunter of Boyland Knitworks with some of the new Koigu! It is going to go with the Swirl Skirt that I am knitting for the current Sue2Knits KAL.

Finished the lace yoke...on the 3rd round of the colourwork chart 2 on my Zweig - I didn't steam block it for this photo so the bottom edge is curled around the needles! The photo above is another view...I am definitely happy with it so far!

The Flax lace hack is still on my needles waiting! I have too many projects pulling at my attention! One and a half sleeves to go until the finish line.

KNIT GROUP AND GALLERY

The current Knit-Alongs are the Knit Your Any Project KAL: An everlasting knit-along to encourage and support you to knit your own project (any project, and join in anytime!) from July 1 to September 15, 2018; and the Swirl Skirt, Any Skirt and Any Project KAL running at the same time. Don't forget to post a pic to the finished object (FO) thread!

The Swirl Skirt by AnneLena Mattison that I am knitting for the Sue2Knits Skirt Kal is moving along nicely! For this one (my third), I have eliminated the wedges. The pattern calls for worsted weight cotton and wool but I am using DK weight yarn for both...Butterfly Super 10 mercerized cotton and Malabrigo Arroyo.

Natalie (abrnat)’s Swirl Skirt WIP for the knit-along...this was a couple of weeks!

Marilyn finished a second pink skirt for her granddaughter! The pattern is the Vivian Skirt by Taiga Hilliard.

Lise’s Alouette by Lisa Chemery knit with Drops Baby Merino

Another gorgeous knit by Lise - the pattern is Fairy Dust by Dani Sunshine.

Nikki finished some knee high socks with "the lovely Sweet Georgia" Tough Love Sock she picked up at the shop.

Madelinetosh has landed in the shop! Mostly Tosh Merino Light but also some Tosh DK! You've seen how tight for space we are...Now to find more room...

Handmade Getaway - the special first edition book by Karen Valina and Jacqueline Sava has arrived, their Fabric, Friends & Food Tote Bags and a new shipment of Soak.

I had a surprise visit yesterday from Soak - Laila and Deanna! Soak's founder is Jacqueline Sava, the co-author of Handmade Getaway!

FALL CLASSES

I have been putting together the Classes that we will be running this fall! I will update you once it is finalized. There will be a Girl or Boy Bunny Class, a topdown fairisle sweater class, Building with Lace by Michelle Hunter Knit-Along Class (Pre-Registration required), Workshops for Dying Yarn and Weaving, Fixing Mistakes and beginner knitting and crochet classes.
