Wednesday, January 24, 2024, Issue 331: Happy Wednesday!!

Today it was foggy and wet with unseasonably warm temperatures above freezing! I for one am happy we haven't had too much snow but it is the perfect for digging out that work in progress or starting something new.

Feel the love of Valentine's Day!

Elske by Merrian Holland have a heart motif pattern that is continuous from the centre seam and wraps around the foot.

Elske by Merrian Holland are knitted from the toe up and the pattern assumes using either magic loop technique or two circulars. If using DPNs please divide the stitches evenly over 4 needles using 2 DPNs for the instep stitches (labelled Needle 1) and 2 DPNs for the sole stitches (labelled Needle 2). The left and right socks are mirror images so the seam and subsequent ‘jog’ from knitting in the round runs up the inside of the ankle.

Sizes: 1 (2, 3)

Finished foot circumference: 17.5 (20, 22.5) cm /
7 (8, 9)”

Yarn: Koigu Premium Merino (4ply/Fingering weight; 100% merino, 160 m / 175 yds per 50 g skein)

Shades: 1 skein per size in each of the following; A: Pink, B: Natural; C: Dark Grey

Gauge: 35 sts & 46 rows = 10 cm / 4” over stranded colourwork pattern on 2.25mm needles

Needles: 2 mm / US 0 AND 2.25 mm / US 1 knitting needles of your preference for working small circumferences in the round.
Always use a needle size that will result in the correct gauge after blocking.

How many hearts is too many hearts for one hat? Obviously there’s o such thing as too many hearts as Heartthrob Hat by Tanis Lavallee shows.

How many hearts is too many hearts for one hat? Obviously there’s no such thing as too many hearts as Heartthrob Hat by Tanis Lavallee shows.

This simple fair isle hat is taken up a notch with the addition of heart shaped earflaps. Though absolutely adorable they add a double layer of warmth over the ears making them a practical
consideration on these freezing cold winter days. They also go a long way towards upping your cute factor - not that you need the help, you’re cuteness is already off the charts. Hey, if you got it, flaunt it!

Hat Measures 14.25 (16, 17.75, 19.5, 21.25)” circumference unstretched. My 5 yo and I can wear the same size hat (adult small) kids have big heads! My 3 yo (pictured) wears the child size.

Yarn
100 (120, 150, 175, 210) yds of worsted weight yarn total.

WIPs and FOs

Last Sunday I had part of my first sleeve knit.

I am happiest working on only one or two projects at once. Since finishing my Secret Garden Sweater, I have been working on my Growing by Lone Kjeldsen. Last Sunday I had part of my first sleeve knit.

I took this progress shot this morning. I have one sleeve finished and the other is almost half finished.

I took this progress shot this morning. I have one sleeve finished and the other is almost half finished. For mine, I knit the second size but with a 21 stitch gauge instead of the 18 stitches over 27 rows of the pattern. I used Regia Premium Merino Yak held double with mohair. I decided to use the last of the Manos del Uruguay Cabrito in Steampunk (dark grey) that I had instead of the Drops Kid Silk.
